iOS 4.1 Will Fix Proximity Sensor And Bluetooth Problems?

iPhone 4 Bluetooth issue

AppleInsider is reporting that iOS 4.1, which is currently in its third beta includes fixes for the proximity sensor and Bluetooth problems reported by iPhone 4 users.

We had also reported yesterday that iOS 4.1 might also fix the performance issue observed by iPhone 3G users after upgrading to iOS 4.

Some of our readers have been complaining that there is a problem with the proximity sensor in iPhone 4.

At the special iPhone 4 press conference where Apple talked about the reception problem, Steve Jobs had acknowledged that they’re looking into problems with the proximity sensor and expect to fix the issue in the next iPhone software update.

It looks like Apple will finally fix the problem in the upcoming iOS 4.1 software update.

AppleInsider reports:

While not documented by Apple, experience with the iOS 4.1 beta has shown that the proximity sensor on the iPhone 4 is far more reliable.

We had recently reported that iPhone 4 users had also reported Bluetooth problems. According to AppleInsider, iOS 4.1 also fixes the Bluetooth problems.

It addresses many issues that users have experienced, including problems with Bluetooth connectivity.

Though iPhone 4’s antenna issue has been highly publicized, the proximity sensor, Bluetooth  problems and iOS 4 performance issues on iPhone 3G seem to be more serious issues based on feedback from our readers. So this news should come as a relief to users who were frustrated by these problems.

As always, we’ll let you know as soon as iOS 4.1 is available so stay tuned here at iPhone Hacks or follow us on Twitter or subscribe to our RSS feed.

Did anyone at Apple actually test this phone before they brought it to the market?…bluetooth, signal, sensor problems etc…This douchebag Jobs keeps breaking the Jailbreak because he wants Apples customers to have "The Best experience possible" yet there is problem after problem with the software and hardware right out of the box.

Well it matters in the cat and mouse game, iPhone hacks explains why in their new post august 27, it's not worth losing another vulnerable hole when the update is not very important. So be careful guys and girls, don't upgrade your ISO until it's safe again

  19. Crazy Man says:

I am sorry but apple has lost it completely!!! Dev team could you please release a cooked firmware that will enable us to do whatever we want with our phone? Thanks

  20. Ronron Tan says:

I just upgraded to 4.1 -> The same problem!! My Iphone 4 just refuses to recognize my favorite JABRA 3030 stereo headset , spinning wheel goes on spinning and draining my battery, The hardware spinning like a wind mill is just like the spin " The proximity sensor on 4.1 is far more reliable…." , which makes me ask: Can anyone ( even almighty spinning Apple) fix a hardware issue with a software update?

  21. allfoone says:

Proximity problem was NOT fixed in 4.1!
It makes me hang up on call's all the time – it's a nightmare!!!!

  22. lanok says:

Ditto same nightmare. Starting to miss my nokia n86.

  23. John says:

New iPhone4, have tested it with 4 different bluetooth headsets. It drops connection and sound like I'm talking in a can. I use the telephone a lot in my work and i'm very dissapointed in Apple for not fixing this bluettoth issue. Testing SonyEricsson Xperia mini Pro, no problem so far, great phone!

  24. Lee says:

I’m with allfoone, and 4.1 nor 4.2 fixed the issue. I’m still struggling with this issue, and considering taking it back to APPLE for replacement again. I’ve tried multiple headsets and even replaced the phone, and had no luck. I REALLY WISH APPLE WOULD FIX IT.

  25. Jeff says:

I just got a new I 4 a week ago, and it is running 4.2 the blue tooth problem is still there! I have 3 different blue tooth headsets that I used with my 3GS with 4.2 os and they worked fine. With the I-4 it skips disconnects and people say the can hardly understand me. I use my phone for work and only use blue tooth head sets, this phone is useless to me.

  26. Rob A says:

Same issue here. There is a very serious safety concern not to use a Bluetooth device with the Iphone while driving. Not sure what Apple is doing about this problem, if anything. The 3GS is a far better choice for us Bluetooth users, but the Iphone 4 is a better phone. would be nice to get the same if not better features after “upgrading to the 4″.

  27. Emma S says:

Absolutely ridiculous. the whole thing is a sham!! i got my iphone4 less than a week ago and i’m totally pissed at it!
bluetooth, i upgraded to 4.2 which did not fix my problem. devices can pair with my phone will not recognised any devices when searching. it just continues to search.
But upon accepting a pair request, the phone then says not connected – forget device!!!! for fooooks sake Apple, sort the bleeder out! you can’t charge £500 quid a phone for it not to work as you state!

  28. iPhoneHacks says:

If you’re having issues even after upgrading to the latest iOS software update (iOS 4.3.2) then your iPhone is probably a faulty piece and since it has just been a week since you purchased it, you could swap it for a new one. Apple is pretty good in handling such issues without asking too many questions.

  29. Sahil says:

Hey WTF i m with version 4.3 nd still the worst bluetooth connectivity
