JailbreakMe does not hactivate your iPhone, so your iPhone should be activated via iTunes first. You can checkout this article to hactivate your iPhone without an official iPhone carrier SIM or simply borrow your friends official iPhone SIM to activate your iPhone.

JailbreakMe does not unlock your iPhone. You can install Ultrasn0w to unlock iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. iPhone 4 users need to wait for some more time as iPhone Dev Team is working on it.

Some users are reporting missing pixels issue.
All you need to do is visit JailbreakMe.com on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad’s Mobile Safari browser and swipe on the ‘slide to jailbreak’ button and wait for the process to complete to jailbreak it. You will see the following screens during the entire process.

If you hit the issue after installing JailbreakMe then open Cydia and upgrade when prompted. If FaceTime is missing then you might have to enable it via the Settings app (Settings -> Phone -> Enable FaceTime toggle)

Spoken too soon, I'm afraid. I got the Cellular Data Network to display by following the above instructions and I could send MMS but NOT receive MMS @#$!!!

I had 3.1.2 already jailbroken via blackra1n. All I did was backup via Itunes then downloaded 4.0.1 via through itunes and then jailbroke 4.0.1 via this method. the easiest jailbreak ever! I swipe of a finger and that is literary it! Im being a bit cautious and installing cydia apps one at a time and testing before downloading another as there are a few compatibility issues. Appcake+ for instance didnt work for me. Installious works fine though so no biggy really.
Can some one direct me to a step by step instructions of how to upgrade 3GS from JB 3.1.2 to JB 4.0.1?
I could not fined any place indicating if step 1 is to update iphone to ios 4.0.1 before going to Comex website to JB it.
For all 3GS users. To JB your phone you need to fallow these steps. It will work every time and you will not have any errors and you will beable to connect to iTunes.
1. Connect to iTunes make a backup of your iPhone
2. Restore ur phone to original settings through iTunes
3. Diconnect your iPhone open up safari and go to jailbreakme.com. Slide to JB and follow directions.
4.once you see cydia pluge your phone back into iTunes and restore ur phone from back up. You will have everything back on ur phone and a perfect JB.

I'm with Rogers in Canada and I did jailbreak my iPhone 3Gs i think the second day that the Jailbreakme.com was announced and after to fix the MMS situation I update by following the second link: http://beta.leimobile.com/repo/
And since I didn't update anything and lately a friend of mine has sent me MMS text msg and even yesterday as well and still don't receive any MMS. I was wondering if it's normal or is there another link that can help me fix this?
Other than the MMS situation, everything else works perfectly.

Hey guys. A seriously poor nube question coming up now so I apologise in advance for it! I'm JB with spirit on 3.1.3 with baseband 5.12.01 can I upgrade to iOS (4.0.1) then JB using jailbreakme then carry on as normal using all my current apps Or do I have to restore to fresh 3.1.3 then upgrade and JB and then reinstall all apps compat with iOS?

Hi – I'm new at this. I have my iphone 3GS on 4.0.1 have been trying to jailbreak it for a couple of days now and it has not worked! all it does it downloads and after I see the "sit tight" for less than a second and it crashes, i re-open it and it says "oops looks like the installer crashed last time you tried to jailbreak. it might work if you try again" but NOTHING has worked. I've reset my network, cleared cookies, history and cache. reboot and reset my phone. nothing has done anything for it to work. what else can i do?

Bottom-Line: Restore with 4.0.1 & it'll work.
History: It worked for me on 3.1.3, but after i updated to 4.0 and i couldnt get it to work. I tried everything Nhat Phan did with no result (kicked out of safari after sliding). I then upgraded to 4.0.1. and it would do the "download" then kick out of safari.
I then did a Shift-"Restore" using a downloaded 4.0.1 (rather than Shift-"Update") and it worked, no problem. [Dont forget to sync & backup, prior to doing a Restore, cuz you'll lose your stuff if you don't.

After jailbreaking my iphone 4 with iOS 4.0.1, I updated cydia and then rebooted my iphone, after that all I could see was the apple logo, my iphone is bricked now!, how can i fix this? I tried to restore the iphone with ios 4.0.1 but apple doesn't let me do it!

download official ios 4.0.1, restore mode entered with shift/option. select ipsw you downloaded for your device. let apple verify it's thing, then jailbreakme.com should do the rest. back up if necessary.
