Apple had just released the third beta version of iOS 4.2 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch to developers of its iOS Developer program.
The release notes did not provide any details about the changes but it doesn’t matter as folks at HDBlog.it have already found the changes in the latest beta version of iOS 4.2.
According to the Italian website, iOS 4.2 beta 3 includes number of bug fixes. They also found it faster and more responsive.
They are reporting that iOS 4.2 includes the following new features:
- Bookmark bar in iPad Safari
- New tones for SMS
- iPad: Enable/Disable alert sounds for New Mail, Sent Mail, Calendar Alerts, Lock Sounds, Keyboard Clicks
- Minor graphical changes
In iOS 4.2 Beta 2, we were excited to find out that we will be able to stream content from apps likes of YouTube, Netflix, etc over AirPlay to Apple TV. But MacStories has also observed that Apple has removed AirPlay support in the native YouTube app in iOS 4.2 Beta 3, which is quite disappointing. Let’s hope that the feature is available in the final version.

I would love a bluetooth on off shortcut on the homescreen somewhere. So I can save battery life when I dont need it and dont have to go settings>general>bluetooth>on/off every time I need to switch it.
How about custom text tones not just new ones. If it took them
This long to get new ones they probably never will put custom tones in.
How About the ability to create photo albums on your iPad or iPhone and move pics into that album without the need to move them to your computer and then create a folder and sync it back to your phone that just sounds dumb
Yes, totally agree on this. It will be great if the photos can be organized according to our preference.
How about a "recycle bin" type of file deletion system for those inadvertent deletions?
My iPad has a bookmark bar how is this new? Am I missing some thing?
I would Luv it if the phone would turn off 3G when you're connected to an approved wifi router or hotspot.

I would love for apple to allow us to customise our phones to how we want them Or us Jailbreak them. I have noticed that a lot of things you can do to a JB phone apple implemented these in newer versions. So this should say to apple that people don't want the boring same phone as the next person. Yeah! I agree with this one. O can't delete photos with a pc. Do something where we can be able to delete photos and add custom ringtones for SMS and calls

I second that wish and add the wish for custom sorting of notes or a group/category/folder methodology to organize them. The current sort by date modified is maddening.
If you jailbreak your iDevice(s) you could download SBSettings which has a shortcut to turn off certain things like that (Bluetooth, 3G, Wifi, Edge, etc…). It also has a plugin to remove all apps running in the background (which is VERY useful!).

That's one of many reasons to jailbreak and use sbc toggle for Bluetooth, location, 3G, wifi and many more right on the home screen and locksreen and while any app is open.
Add auto answer with blauthooth headset. When i ride my motorbike its hard to answer a call, even at my old phone i had that future.

I would really like to see new email alerts, missed call alerts and messaging alerts on the lock screen. It seems so simple that a smart phone would be able to show these things at a glance without unlocking the phone every time!!

I would love to see the bug fixed that causes the wrong album artwork to be displayed.
This happens to me when I add something new to my ipod touch 3g iso 4.1.
I'm feedup having to de-sync and then re-sync my music, podcasts and audiobook to get the correct art work to display.
Cover flow is useless if it can not use the images embedded in my music.

Jb app sb settings offers that along with activator all I did was set it to launch with status bar swipe ad sb settings pops up and u can toggle all sorts of things Bluetooth, location, wifi,3G on and on u can even respring reboot safe mode all with one swipe and one tap

They still have the shatter exploit in there back pocket so most likely n pretty quick. Those guys r amazing. By the way Jb 4.1 3Gs with limera1n bata then re-did when non-bata and was having weird little problems and then Jb with greenpois0n no problems any more don't know if it was coincident or not but dev teams JB seems more stable.
What I would like as my security camera at home sends a lot of emails that i would just like to delete if i could type in the email subject and select all with that subject and delete or move or delete read mail.
I could have sworn I thought this was going to be a feature when they announced 4.0. I guess I was just dreaming like you.
Why would you want that? It's a phone. If you don't want a phone, get an ipod or ipad.
