We had reported that iOS 4.2 golden master, which has been seeded to developers of iOS Developer program can be jailbroken using Redsn0w.
But Comex - developer of popular jailbreaking tools like Spirit and Jailbreakme had tweeted that the jailbreak tools for iOS 4.2 might be delayed as Cydia – the jailbreak app that is required to install jailbreak apps doesn’t work with iOS 4.2.
MuscleNerd has confirmed earlier today that Saurik, developer of Cydia and Chpwn, iPhone developer and hacker are working hard to get Cydia ready in time for iOS 4.2 and subsequent release of jailbreaking tools. He tweeted:

It looks like Cydia will get a new Settings pane based on the screenshot published by MuscleNerd. According to chpwn that is the only UI change and most of the improvements are on the backend side.
With the release of iOS 4.2 GM earlier this week, we expect Apple to release iOS 4.2 to users sometime next week.

It would be nice if it was multitasking capable too!
Would be nice if all themes had a preview as well as all ringtones could be previewed so we know if we want it or not and yea faster would be better

Filter out themes (not everyone is interested) and filter apps by iOS version (there are apps that do not work on the latest greatest iOS 4.x)

You can already filter out themes. Go to categories then edit in the top right and turn themes off.
It would be charming if there is an option to delete and reduce the contents inside 'Changes'. That would be sweet.

why update your ip to ios 4.2 if nothing is new? ios 4.1 without multitasks is great already for my ipod touch 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPad ios 3.2

Yeah, I'm not sure about the need for iOS4.2 for my 3Gs but I get crazy over everything that is missing on my iPad!
The ability that once you started downloading something, there is another tab to tell you all in progress downloads.
That way if you can't remember what you were downloading exactly, and get disconnected, you can resume without any trouble at all.
Basically a download/queue tab to tell you what is downloading, and what is queued etc. And multitasking support for that.

I have installed stuff like ringtones and themes just by giving a try on the basis of their fancy names, which were absolute junk for me.

Yeah! Please get our phones released. It's an iPhone touch for us at the moment.
I would like to get an option to manually select "Download Packages/Releases"
Because which bothers us is having it automatic and we have to wait until it finishes to go for the thing we opened Cydia for.
Also in the Search option. I recommend letting the user type the word he is looking for and then star searching only if I click search not to auto search for every letter I type which slows down the typing to death.

back up apps like rock and another feature that was cool n rock was you had choice to respring now or after all downloads hate to have to keep going back if there were multiple downloads that i wanted, but dont know if thats possible, that might be the thing cydia said rock was taking short cuts to get done.

I got the impression that their comment about shortcuts was mostly a territorial/competitive thing, similar to the whole greenpois0n/limera1n thing… Rock had things right. A better idea would have been to incorporate cydia into rock instead of the other way around… with all the ads cydia displays I'm sure enough is made to pay for faster servers.
I'm with all of you that would like it to be faster, and would like to be able to filter results.
Not sure if I'm missing something, but in Cydia if I accidentally click on one of the annoying ads, I have to completely exit cydia before I can get to another app page. Every time I choose an app it goes right back to the ad's website I clicked until I exit. There are also no controls when I get to that website, not even able to zoom.
Wow, it actually is faster today… a lot faster… did the servers get an upgrade?
