When Apple released the first beta version of iOS 4.2, we were excited about the AirPlay feature as it allowed users to stream content from apps like YouTube, Netflix, Mobile Safari that implemented the video playback controller to stream audio and video content to the new Apple TV.

However, when iOS 4.2.1 was released finally on Monday, we were disappointed to find out that the AirPlay feature was only available on the iPod and YouTube app and it was possible to only stream audio from third party apps.

Ever since they fell out with Adobe, Apple has been actively advocating the use of HTML5 and other open web standards among the developer community. The company is learned to have formed a "creative technology group" that has been building interactive content with these tools.

According to a DigiTimes report, Foxconn has opened a production line to manufacture iPads in its newly inaugurated plant at Chengdu, China.

Foxconn, as you might be aware is the company that Apple has licensed to manufacture many of its products. The list of products that Foxconn makes for Apple includes the iPhone, iPods and now, the iPad.

The new plant is currently capable of producing only 300,000 units per month from the single production line but Foxconn is apparently planning to ramp up production of iPads further with 50 production lines.

Apple has just announced that it will be finally releasing iOS 4.2 today.

According to the press release:

“iOS 4.2 makes the iPad a completely new product, just in time for the holiday season,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Once again, the iPad with iOS 4.2 will define the target that other tablets will aspire to, but very few, if any, will ever be able to hit.”
