iPhone Alarms Still Not Working For Some Users

As you might know, iPhone alarms didn’t work on New Year’s day 2011 for many users.

Apple had acknowledged the iPhone alarm bug and had reassured users that the issue will resolve itself on January 3rd.

But it’s January 3rd and the news is trickling in that the iPhone alarm didn’t work for some users resulting in them being late to work on the first working day of 2011.

One of readers, blackwigit just commented that iPhone alarm did not work:

confirmed this morning, january 3rd, that the alarm is still not functioning properly if set normally and not using the recurring function.

Engadget has also confirmed that users are still complaining about the issue. The iPhone alarm bug affects only non-recurring alarms.

If you hit the issue then the only option to avoid it, is to set the alarm as a recurring alarm rather than a one time alarm by following these steps:

  • Launch Clock app
  • Tap Alarm
  • Tap Edit
  • Tap the appropriate alarm
  • Tap Repeat
  • Set a repeat interval
  • Tap Save

Thanks blackwigit for the heads up!

Some of our fantastic readers have commented that the alarm worked fine for them. It’s not clear why the issue is affecting some users. We’ll let you know as soon as we get any further information on this issue.

Did the iPhone alarm wake you up on time? Please let us know if you hit the issue in the comments section below.

Or download another Alarm Clock App?

Does this bug apply to all timed-alarm applications or just the default “Clock” App?

  • I thought it was just my phone! I guess it’s good to know it’s across the board. However, I would like this fixed as I use it as my alarm clock everyday! Luckily, I just happened to get up when I was suppose to without my alarm today! 🙂

the alarm i set the night before on 1/2/2011 for 7:15am, did not go off this morning. but the test alarm i set today at 8:30am for 8:35am (5 minutes later), did go off fine.
i guess i’ll set some more test alarms today to see if it works. might only affect alarms set the previous day??
    i’ll find out tomorrow.

    • Fingers21

Ooh, my stapler has run out of staples! It must be Steve jobs fault, so fuck you Steve jobs! Get a grip you dick! My iPhone 4 had the issue, my iPhone 4 has had quite a few of the known issues, but guess what, I’m not a fag, I deal with it! You don’t like it, don’t fucking buy it!

      • monkeywrench

ill go with on the fence, yes it is a device and with all electronics comes problems. but this is not just a game boy, this is the highest class, highest price, and regarded as the highest quality smart phone on the market by many. so a lot is expected of apple, and for the most part they deliver. but you get the same problems with high end cars, (i work at a dealership) the simplest of problems becomes a catastrophe when your workking with a higher end product.

        • Iphone4 good

Agreed….i deal with high end car.. Even a bit of wind sound across the windshield will be complaint… Damn

      • Chris

when you spend £400 on a phone, the alarm should work, you dick. Stop sucking jobs cock.

      • Cameron

He already bought it, Mr Stupid and Angry. This issue affects people who *already* own iphones. Just how stupid are you?

  • Tim

This morning my alarm clock did not go off as expected from the fix apple had intended. After power cycling my iPhone everything worked. All of my coworkers and customers who had the same issue had it resolved by rebooting their iPhones after 01/03/2011. This way the iPhone will be able to have a net update

Has anyone been having issues with the clock in itself? The clock showed 01:00 last night when it actually was 00:00, and in auto-lock mode. Once I unlocked the phone, the time corrected itself.
