iDealsChina has posted a photo of what they claim is the front panel of the next generation iPhone – iPhone 5.
Based on the photo, the screen seems to be a thinner, larger 4-inch screen with a smaller bezel due to the edge-to-edge screen.

China's 1st iPhone 5 photo has surfaced! From this photo it seems that the screen size will be larger than iPhone 4. There has been a lot of specualtion about a larger screen and maybe this will be one of the upgrades we will see when iPhone 5 is released this summer.
We’ve heard rumors that Apple is working on iPhone 5 with a 4-inch screen to compete with Android based smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy S that come with a 4-inch screen. The edge to edge screen is new piece of information as until now we've heard rumors that iPhone nano will come with an edge to edge screen (assuming it is launched).
Folks at 9 to 5 Mac had created a mockup of iPhone with a 4-inch and edge to edge screen to show how it may look.

I’ve got zero idea how you guys can use the word “obese” or the phrase “gained some weight in the mid-section” to this, considering the phone is exactly the same size and profile.
To me it looks like it’s wearing some kind of screen-magnifier, like old folks used to hang over their TV’s or like mid-age folks used to hang over their Game Boys.
I think the photoshop is overly dramatic. If you take a look at the leaked photo of the iPhone 5 front panel the bezel is actually slightly thicker than in the photoshopped image. The overly dramatic photoshop makes the phone look obese and unrealistic.

A 4-inch screen would indeed be too big if Apple didn’t re-design the UI – you’d have to swipe your fingers that much further than we’re all used to. And I think redesigning the UI is out because of all the troubles existing apps could have with that. So I’m not holding my breath on this rumour.

Though, if I think about it, they could part-redesign the UI and just have a “virtual bezel” for apps that prefer the old UI.
The iphone5 is certainly going to have to be innovative and/or competitive to keep me on the ios platform, anyway.

I would rather have them fix the issues with the screen on iPhone 4. Every time the screen touches my cheek, I go into mute or hold. The bigger the screen, the more are the chances of hitting one of the buttons.
yes i agree i was having that problem a lot because of my case. after i got my new case have not had that problem. I would get a new case if you can. I have the speck candyshell for the iphone 4.

That’s the hole for the front facing camera. The other one should be faint and look grey.

0% chance that this is real. The negatives far outweigh positives. You lose pixel density. No way Apple wants to do that.
You don’t lose pixel density with a larger screen if you add pixels. Obviously the mock up is fake. It’s just there to give a general idea.
That’s exactly my point. They’re not going to add any pixels to keep the pixel density the same. All the apps are gonna have to be adapted to a new screen which is way more trouble than it’s worth.

Shit, I’ll take a 4.5 inch screen. Videos and games will be better. Reading will be easier on the eyes. I’ll settle for the 4.0 inch screen though. As much as I love my iPhone, if they come out with another 3.5 inch screen, I’m moving on to the samsung infuse.
If apple does this, the iPhone will lose it’s personality!
The reason the iPhone did so well in the first place is because it had it’s own look, it wasnt following any trend now apple has the “bright” idea to model it’s most successful invention after other bullish*t phones………..i don’t get it!
A bigger screen will be great everybody who’s doesn’t like it now will most likely like it when it comes out people complained about how the iPhone 4 looked when pictures where 1st leaked then as soon as they seend it in person everybody loved it plus apple migh start making different versions of the iPhone to satisfy more people maybe a nano, original and bigger screen might all drop who knows

4-inch all the way. I just wonder how they are gonna make a case for that screen, I guess the bumper is out of the way enough to not block the edge to edge screen.
Not that im buying the “Leaked Screen” stuff, but if the 4″ looked anything like that photoshop POS then count me out. Of course apple would most liken make it look good, but that pic just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Give me the 4 inch screen. I’ll take that anyway over my 3.5. Better experience. Easier texting. Better gaming and maybe I’ll even start watching some movies on the 4 incher

My next phone will have at least a 4.3 inch screen, which looks like iPhone is out.

Look closely at the left part of the image inside where the screen meets the bezel. It is fairly apparent Photoshop was used to make the screen look larger. You can see where the forger copied the empty space over to make the screen larger. Too bad, I was excited when I first saw this!

i reckon they should make the screen 3.75″ soo its not to big n its got that nice black metal piece on the sides and they should focus of more improvements on the battery life, quicker internet, and new hardware features something that no phone on the market has ! i dunno maybe like a mini sized tv tunner or super strong scratch resistant casing on front and back panels

4″ screen is great if iPhone 5 is in the same size as iPhone 4 or thinner.
Well, apple would not add any fancy stuff, I have seen the iPhone 5 prototype 2 with is slightly thinner than iPhone 4 but the antenna line has migrate to other corner,more like the verizon iphone. The rocker button is 0.34% smaller and has a 3.8 inch screen, not a 4 inch as speculated. 7.2mp camera and 728mb ram. The version I tested was a 32gb model, and the home button is capacitive touch as ******** the engineer said the home
