Verizon and Apple have stopped taking pre-orders for iPhone 4 as they have run out of stock in less than a day since they started accepting pre-orders.
Verizon has announced that the launch of iPhone was the fastest-selling debut in the carrier's history, which is amazing when you consider that the pre-orders were open only to existing Verizon customers and Verizon had started accepting orders very early in the morning or late night (3:00am EST).
Verizon announced:
"This was an exciting day," said Dan Mead, president and chief executive officer for Verizon Wireless. "In just our first two hours, we had already sold more phones than any first day launch in our history. And, when you consider these initial orders were placed between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., it is an incredible success story. It is gratifying to know that our customers responded so enthusiastically to this exclusive offer - designed to reward them for their loyalty."
Verizon has also announced that non-Verizon users will be able to order Verizon iPhone from 3:00 am on February 9th for delivery or reserve for in-store pick up beginning February 10 or wait until February 10 to pick it up from Verizon Wireless Communication Stores, which will open at 7:00am in the morning.
Early reviewers have observed that the voice quality of the iPhone on Verizon’s network is a lot better than AT&T though download and upload speeds are slower.
Verizon has also started airing a new iPhone commercial, which seems to indirectly target AT&T’s poor network coverage.
So looks like things are going to get interesting as AT&T and Verizon fight it out to get iPhone customers.
Let us know what do you think of Verizon’s new iPhone commercial.

I wish I had shares in Apple’s stock!
brutal!
I sure love my APPL shares
I wish I had kept all of my apple shares. I sold half of my shares in 2005 for about $10,000. Had I kept all of my shares, I’m looking at over a quarter of a million dollars today.
Apple makes good products. That’s why they sell so well. Despite the hatred from competitors, if iDevices don’t live up to their hype, returns would have put apple out of business a long time ago.
The bottomline, the iphone is a very nice device that works. I hope to see verizon sell just as many iphones as att does.
Hmmm. Wonder if I can threaten AT&T I’m bailing. Maybe they’ll give me a discount.
Thinking the same
Its strange that there are no real numbers displayed, just sold-out. So were there only 1,000 iphones available or 10,000 or 100,000!
How can i put this post in context without an idea of numbers.
That commercial is awesome.
I wonder how many of them were Android users?
Weak!!
I dont like android i like the ios interface regardless of what network verizon is horrible where i am att is 5 to 6 times better get service everywhere. why they wanna fight about dumb shit att has better service some places and verizon has better service some places but you cant multitask with that cdma shit that sucks
Looks like they are making ads targeting each other, even ATT had a new ad.
I’m AT&T customer and i switch to verizon it sound better for services
I just wish Apple would design an unlocked iphone that could be used universally (Cdma, GSM, and whatever the the latest technology) and REASONABLY priced! I also wish carriers would offer REASONABLE talk text and data plans free of contracts, the world would be a better place. Oh, and while I’m at it world peace.
I love how for years verzion knocked the iPhone and put it down. But really wanted it for there system. And now that they got it there going to rub it in all our faces And there network is slower and still they bash AT&T. The network speed is what makes the iPhone
