SpringPrefs: Jailbreak Tweak Brings System Stats Widget To iOS 5 Notification Center

iPhone 4

Few days back, Will Homer – a UK based iOS developer revealed that he had figured out a way to hack iOS 5 to create widgets for Notification Center.

A new custom widget called SpringPrefs has just been released on Cydia created that uses the hack to bring system stats to iOS 5’s new Notification center.

As you can see from the screenshot below, the custom widgets gives users easy access to system information such as free RAM, load average, Wi-Fi and data IPs, uptime, load average and the iOS version number via the new Notification Center introduced in iOS 5.

As the system stats widget is integrated into Notification Center, users will also be able to access the system information from any application with a single swipe.

You can download the custom widget on a jailbroken iOS device on iOS 5 from Cydia.

Jordan - developer of SpringPrefs has revealed that he will release the jailbreak tweak after iOS 5 is released.

Let us know what you think about the system stats custom widget in the comments.

the author of SpringPrefs (@greysyntax) has said it wont be available until final iOS 5. Why bother saying its available now when it isnt? get your facts right before writing an article!!

You’re right, we should have verified the facts before reporting that it’s available on Cydia.
