Apple May Release iOS 4.3.4 To Fix Exploit Used By Leaked iPad 2 Jailbreak

JailbreakMe 3.0

Yesterday, the unofficial version of JailbreakMe to jailbreak iPad 2 was leaked and earlier today, we gave you the backstory of how it got leaked.

By leaking the iPad 2 jailbreak, they have not only undermined the hard work that Comex had put in for almost 10 months, but the jailbreak community is also worried that it has also given Apple the opportunity to fix the exploit before the official version is released by Comex.

Based on the hints Comex has given us so far, it looks like he has used a PDF exploit just like JailbreakMe 2.0. Last time round, when Comex had released JailbreakMe 2.0, Apple was quick to react and had released an iOS software update in less than two weeks to fix the vulnerability in iOS.

Comex expects Apple to release an iOS software update (iOS 4.3.4) to fix the vulnerability used in the leaked version of JailbreakMe and has advised users to take a backup of SHSH blobs.

Let’s hope the time limit isn’t too short… hasn’t been in the past but could always change. Everyone use TinyUmbrella and save 4.3.3.

i0nic, famous for developing the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.3 used in jailbreaking tools like Redsn0w, Sn0wbreeze and PwnageTool also believes that the release of iOS 4.3.4 is imminent:

An iPad2 4.3jB via PDF was leaked to the masses.that means Apple will reverse the xploit tonight and 4.3.4 will kill the jb before it is out

You can use TinyUmbrella for iOS 4.3.3 or iOS 4.2.8 or iFaith that was released by iH8sn0w yesterday to take a backup of your SHSH blobs so that you can downgrade to the older version of iOS if required. Jailbreakers and iPhone unlockers should also avoid upgrading to iOS 4.3.4 if it is released until the jailbreak community does not release the latest tools for iOS 4.3.4.

It will be interesting to see how quickly Apple releases iOS 4.3.4 to fix the vulnerability and if Comex will release the official version of JailbreakMe before it is released.
