So far we’ve heard conflicting reports about next generation iPhone’s form factor.
According to some reports including the purported iPhone 5 case design have indicated that the next generation iPhone will be completely redesigned and will look more like iPod Touch 4G rather than iPhone 4.
While, some reports claim that fifth generation iPhone will come with improved specifications such as faster processor, 8-megapixel camera etc. just like iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, but won’t feature an all-new design and will look like iPhone 4.
Some reports have also claimed that iPhone 5 will sport a larger 3.7 inch or 4-inch screen (diagonally) instead of a 3.5-inch screen. But, Taiwanese publication DigiTimes reports today that according to their sources from upstream panel suppliers, iPhone 5 won’t come with a larger screen.
The rumored specifications of iPhone 5 include a 4- to 4.2-inch HD touch panel, 8-megapixel camera, Full HD video recording, A5 dual-core processor and new ultra-thin industrial design; however, the sources believe that the leaked specifications are rather the market’s expectations for iPhone 5. The sources pointed out that the upcoming iPhone will not have many differences compared to iPhone 4 in terms of components and the panel will still be less than 4-inch.
DigiTimes reports that according to their sources, iPhone 5 will come with a 3.5 to 3.7-inch panel, but with a thinner bezel, which will make the screen look larger.
DigiTimes also reports that iPhone 5 will sport a metal back, instead of a glossy glass back like iPhone 4. This might go down well with users who have replaced their iPhone 4’s glass back panel with a metal back.
What about you? Would you prefer iPhone 5 with a metal back or with a glossy back?
