Sprint Installing Signal Repeaters In Apple Retail Stores – Gearing Up For iPhone 5 Launch?

Sprint iPhone

We've heard several rumors that Sprint might offer Apple's iPhone 5 on it's network. Sprint even had to send an internal memo to its employees telling them: "Do not Speculate about Sprint Getting the iPhone.", which was counter productive as it is being perceived by some as a positive indication that Sprint is finally getting the iPhone.

Over the weekend a leaked memo also revealed that Best Buy was expecting the Sprint iPhone 5 in the first week of October.

If that's not enough proof, then BeatWeek reports that Sprint is installing signal repeaters in Apple Retail stores.

BeatWeek reports:

According to the source, who resides in Austin, Texas: “One thing I can tell you is that the electrical contractor that I work for is contracted to install Sprint “repeaters” at The Domain. There is a Apple Store at The Domain. One of the “repeaters” is to be installed INSIDE the Apple Store. There is to be a total of 5 “repeaters” installed. The equipment is CDMA and 4G (Sprint)”…

AT&T and Verizon have installed similar signal repeaters in Apple Retail stores to ensure high quality signal, so if this news is true then it would mean that iPhone 5 is indeed coming to Sprint.

Application usage logs have revealed that Apple is testing a dual-mode iPhone 5 running iOS 5, so it remains to be seen if iPhone 5 will also support Sprint's CDMA network. We've also heard rumors that iPhone 5 is coming to T-Mobile USA.

If T-Mobile and Sprint join AT&T and Verizon to offer Apple's iPhone, let's hope that it means lower prices and unlimited data plans or maybe we're being naive and we'll continue to see higher prices and restrictions on data usage.

What are your thoughts on this? Will you be buying a Sprint iPhone?

  2. Digitaltouch says:

What I want to know is the iPhone 4 came out 15months ago for AT&T for Verizon it’s just been a few months. Is AT&T going to give all these ppl that brought the ip4 a new contract for the new phone like that they could stay with AT&T ? Verizon ppl sure can’t get in update nowYoUthis is why sprint is getting the iPhone 5 it makes sense. Apple need new customers to keep that selling momentum going. To many ppl are on contracts already.

  3. AC says:

Would be nice to have the iPhone on all carriers… so I don’t have to keep unlocking my iPhone for T-Mobile….

  4. fas says:

I just hope it is true.

  5. Cool007 says:

I will switch to Sprint in a heartbeat as well. It’s about time Apple is going to be on all the major carriers (hopefully with T-Mobile too).

Please please pleas. I hope it’s true.

  6. Richard Ackley says:

I suggesting Apple support all carriers in the first release of iPhone. AT&T got exclusivity while Apple and the public got the shaft. Millions more iPhones would have been sold each year had Apple provided an unlocked phone and/or made the iPhone available on ALL major U.S. carriers. Customers would have had a CHOICE.

  7. Boss says:

now, hopefully, apple should unlock all old phones
