Apple’s new iPhone 4S comes with a glass back panel like iPhone 4. The glass panels are made of aluminosilicate glass, which is the same type of material used in the windshields of helicopters and high speed trains.
Though these panels are said to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, which makes the glass virtually unbreakable and scratch-proof, we know that they are prone to damage.
Folks at UnitediPhoneRepair, an online repair shop for iPhones have performed a drop test on the iPhone 4S to see if it breaks. We’re not too surprised by the results based on what we had seen with iPhone 4. Warning! As Shawn has commented, it’s painful to watch.
So it took only 2 drops to damage iPhone 4, though we are not sure if you would ever end up dropping your iPhone from that height and if it would also hit the ground face down. But the video tells you that you need to be more careful while handling iPhone 4S as it is more prone to accidental damage like iPhone 4.
Let us know what you think of the drop tests. Have you bought or planning to buy a bumper case or a regular case for your iPhone 4S?
