iPhone 4S Drop Test Results Are In

iPhone 4S

Apple’s new iPhone 4S comes with a glass back panel like iPhone 4. The glass panels are made of aluminosilicate glass, which is the same type of material used in the windshields of helicopters and high speed trains.

Though these panels are said to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, which makes the glass virtually unbreakable and scratch-proof, we know that they are prone to damage.

Folks at UnitediPhoneRepair, an online repair shop for iPhones have performed a drop test on the iPhone 4S to see if it breaks. We’re not too surprised by the results based on what we had seen with iPhone 4. Warning! As Shawn has commented, it’s painful to watch.

So it took only 2 drops to damage iPhone 4, though we are not sure if you would ever end up dropping your iPhone from that height and if it would also hit the ground face down. But the video tells you that you need to be more careful while handling iPhone 4S as it is more prone to accidental damage like iPhone 4.

Let us know what you think of the drop tests. Have you bought or planning to buy a bumper case or a regular case for your iPhone 4S?

    • iRSX

Get traffic to their site so that they can make ad money.

  • Juan

How about if you drop it with a case in it????

    Typical ….

I bet the “will it blend” folks are giving final touches to their video before uploading it to YouTube.

  • Brandon

Of course it breaks, it may be strong gorilla glass but it’s still glass

they can’t get it too much stronger without greatly increasing the price of the phone on current technology

    • Brandon

and this is why you buy a case for your phone, it decreases the chance of it breaking drastically even the cheap cases

So the issue was there. GLad they rectified it finally.

    retarded

  • Maxtor182

Broken glass is not a big deal and they probably knew that. They can put a new panel on it for 30 or 40 bucks

  • Maxtor182

Iphone 4/4s probably have the same glass

    • Jack

No s**t, only the insides are different, A4 to A5, 5MP to 8MP, 1 antenna on top to 2 antennas on top and bottom and from 512 RAM to 1 GB RAM

  • Kenny

This is why I won’t be getting an iPhone any time soon with that flimsy glass.

    • Kaz

You’re not getting an iPhone anytime soon yet you’re on a website about iPhones…

    • Freddieboy

Dont buy a car aswell then because if you deliberately crash it it will break too

  • Scrooge

No surprise there… Same glass as iPhone 4.

No need to drop, a tight pocket could have the same effect.

    • Coop2009

A tight pocket could have the same effect? must be one tight pocket you!!

dont really think thats an accurate comment other wise all phones would smash in your “tight Pocket”

    • Pimpo

A tight back pocket plus a fart!

  • Peapul

….the fart alone would break it!!!

Check this out guys… its the iPhone 4S vs. Samsung Galaxy S II Drop Test

  • CellPhoneGeeks

Motorola RAZR throws Kevlar fibre back and Corning Gorilla Glass screen with splash-guard coating, that’s definitely more durable than iPhone 4S.
