Hitachi and Sony are rumored to have begun shipments of 4-inch displays for an unspecified iOS device.
In addition, there’s also some news about the fourth generation iPad display.
AppleInsider has the scoop from a Japanese blog, Macotakara, who in turn has sources in Apple’s supply chain. Macotakara claims that both companies have teamed up to supply Apple for an “unspecified device due next year”. The two companies will later be merging with Toshiba Mobile Display Co Ltd. to form “Japan Display.”
The 4-inch unspecified iOS device is most likely Apple’s sixth generation iPhone, which will be launched in 2012.
Macotakara.jp also claims that according to the same source, an unknown Taiwanese company will furnish Apple with “LCD technology faces” destined for iPad 4, whose manufacturing process will be completely new and whose design will be “fundamentally changed”.
