Google has just released the Google Currents iOS app to compete with Flipboard, which creates a personalized social magazine for its users by aggregating links shared by their friends and followers on social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
Google Currents delivers beautiful magazine-like editions of sites such as Forbes, TechCrunch, Saveur, Popular Science, Good, 500px, Fast Company. It also uses Google search technology to hourly build a set of editions tracking the five most recent trending stories in categories such as world, entertainment, sports, science, and more.
It also turns your Google Reader subscriptions, or any of your favorite blogs/feeds into a beautiful edition with a magazine feel. Users will be able to read each edition offline.
