Facebook has just released a new version of their iPhone app.
The updated app brings the new timeline view to the iPhone, gives you access to friend lists, subscribers and subscriptions and also includes some performance improvements.
Here are the new features and improvements according to the what's new section:
- Access to Mobile Timeline on iPhone (if you already have a timeline). iPad support coming soon. - Access to friend lists, subscribers and subscriptions - Faster, better performance - Photos are easier to view, upload and comment on
Facebook had recently rolled out the Timeline feature on its website earlier in the week, which was unveiled at a developers conference in September.
Facebook had this to say in a blog post:
"Timeline gives you an easy way to see the things you've shared, and collect all your best moments in a single place. Mobile timeline starts with your unique cover photo. As you scroll down, you'll see your posts, photos and life events as they happened, back to the day you were born. Photo albums and other posts are horizontally swipeable, so you can quickly view multiple photos or posts inline without leaving timeline. You can also swipe through the views at the top of your timeline to navigate to your map, photos, subscribers and more.
Making stories more visual
Your posts now appear in several different ways on your mobile timeline. The photos you share are bigger, and friends you're with and places you visit appear on a map."

You can download the latest version of the Facebook app using this App Store link or update it via the Updates tab in the App Store app on your iOS device.

I dont see a difference
Best update so far! Pics load fast as and I like the look of the timeline but so far im the only one I know that’s made one
same here .. don’t see any different here too. do i need to reboot or something?

Nice and subtle improvements, common FB for iPad!
I have an 4s and this update does not show in my appstore.
I dislike how it automatically signs me into chat with no (obvious) way to turn off chat without logging out.
Barry, If you find a way to go offline on the chat function for iphone, please share! I can’t figure it out or find any info for that..
me too… I need to find a way to be able to stay offline on the FB app, but my now on the iphone 4s it won’t let me.. or maybe its because of the new update.. irritating

I recently updated my Facebook app
But I discovered that I can’t go offline in chat !!!!
Like other versions !

I hated it too !!! I hate the fact that we cant go offline without having to log out !!! I rather the last version,at least we could go offline
Gggrrrrr, how frustrating – even more frustrating is trying to report/complain to fb about the issue. Hopefully they will realise that most won’t be happy with this and release another update soon?
