A report by Localytics has found that over 12 times the normal amount of activations occurred over the holiday weekend alone.
A new report by Localytics claims that over 12 times the number of iOS devices were activated over the holiday weekend, December 23rd – 26th compared to previous weekends since Thanksgiving.
The below graph shows the number of new devices accessing the App Store in the US, Germany, South Korea, and Sweden, the countries with the highest numbers of activations. While the iPhone is still the most popular device, you can see that the sales were significantly helped along by customers buying iPads and iPod Touches, iOS devices without contracts.
Android also saw significant, growth – almost equal to iOS on average. Android did particularly well in South Korea and Sweden, whereas it lagged behind iOS’s growth in the US over this year’s holiday weekend.
