Seaso0nPass

FireCore has released an updated version of their jailbreaking tool – Seas0nPass to support untethered jailbreak for Apple TV 4.4.4 software update for second generation Apple TV.

Seas0nPass makes use of pod2G's untethered jailbreak, which was also used by iPhone Dev team to release Redsn0w and by Chronic Dev team to release Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether jailbreak app earlier in the week.

FireCore has provided the following details on their blog:

Today we are happy to release an updated version of Seas0nPass that supports an untethered jailbreak of the latest 4.4.4 (iOS 5.0.1) AppleTV software. Big thanks goes to the world famous @pod2g for doing the lion's share of the work to make this new version possible.

Jailbreaking Apple TV 2G enables users to install aTV Flash (black), which adds new features to the second generation Apple TV such as web browsing, Last.FM access, support for HTML5 video sites, stream media from most NAS devices and lots more.

You can download the latest version of Seas0nPass and find the user guides at seas0npass.com. Please note if  you're already running a tethered version of 4.4.4 you will need to re-jailbreak using Seas0nPass to take advantage of the new untethered version.

As always, let us know how it goes in the comments.

Basically yes! I just bought one two days ago and installed xmbc nitrotv on a tethered jb 4.4.3 lol to find this today needless to say I returned it to stock and am returning it. Streaming vid on ice films was terrible and quality sucked. I have a 60″ led shap with apps I wish those were able to be jb

  4. Sako says:

Iphone 4s jailbreak please :) it looks the hardest thing ever.. I’m sure it is! Bcuz even for ipad 2 took a long time to jailbreak. Damm A5 chip! Happy New Year to ever1 :)

  5. joeymac says:

can i install NitoTV with 4.4.4?? whats the point to even upgrade from 4.3??

  6. fingers21 says:

Ice films works a treat on my atv2! Never had an issue with streaming or quality. I have a 60″ full hd 3D tv!! Just thought I’d slip that in! My broadband isn’t the quickest, but still streams without problem. Never needed untethered jailbreak thought, cos never figured out how to turn atv2 off!

  7. Pegger says:

    Did it :)
ATV2 running perfect fine with 4.4.4 and NitoTV stuff and off course XBMC EDEN Beta1 :)

    The advantage of upgrading?
    - If you have an other iDevice, Airplay is the biggest reason to upgrade :)

  8. fas says:

Any step by step on how to do it.

  9. Subeysta says:

to set up nitro you need to download install putty

check the ip address of the atv then use putty to ssh into it
    username root
    pw alpine
    the type these commands
    1, apt-get update && apt-get upgrade
    2, apt-get -f install
    3, apt-get install com.nito.nitotv
    4, killall AppleTV
    5, reboot

once rebooted you can go to nitrotv and installation and install xbmc etc

    hope that helps

also make sure to turn install the stop apple updates as it crashes xbmc etc sometimes
