Twitter Launches Slick New iPhone App

Twitter has just released a new version of their iPhone app.

They have completely revamped the user interface, which Twitter hopes will make it "easier than ever to follow what you care about, connect with others and discover something new."

Twitter has rolled out the new design both on Twitter.com and mobile phones like the iPhone.

The new design revolves around four concepts: Home, Connect, Discover and Me. Twitter has provided a brief description of each of these concepts:

Home is where you start from: a personal collection of Tweets from the sources you care about. The Tweet details show rich information such as replies, retweets and embedded images.

Connect is the place to see who followed or mentioned you, retweeted or favorited one of your Tweets. It’s where you keep the conversation flowing.

Discover is where you can tap into the stories and trends people are talking about in your world. You can also find friends, browse interests, and explore hashtags here.

Me puts you and your interests front and center. From here you can exchange Direct Messages with your followers.

You can checkout the video, which provides more details of the changes below:

You can update to the latest version of the app via the App Store app on iOS devices or download it using this App Store link.

As always, please don't forget to let us know what you think about the redesigned Twitter app.

I hate it. No switching accounts easily… Not my thing… Going back to the previous app.

  2. Victor says:

Just delete it FROM the phone, and put it back with itunes. THANKS GOD i didnt update on the Mac first.

  3. Rounak says:

For all those you haven’t updated yet, be sure to update it right from your device so that in case you don’t like the new version you have a fall back (iTunes would have the old .ipa)

  4. Shrey says:

how do i get the new version of twitter on the computer.? the one that video shows!

    • wolverinemarky says:

i assume it will be a staggered rollout like the last twitter update was

      • Tali says:

You don’t have to live with it if you didn’t empty your trash. When you update on the computer, it moves the old .ipa to the trash. If you didn’t empty your trash, then just open it up and move the file back to the iTunes folder.

  5. Eduardo says:

    I love the new version

  6. Adrian says:

So how do you see what tweets people have sent to people you follow? Am I missing something?

    • Tracey says:

That’s what I’m struggling to find I’m new to iphone so I connected my phone to my computer to revert back to the old twitter app but it updated on itunes before I had a chance to revert back to the older version :-( not too keen on the new one

  7. Keo says:

I like the new twitter app. When wanting to access DM easier, swipe up on the “me” icon. When wanting to access account changes easier swipe left on the “me” icon.

  8. fas says:

    That is an awesome upgrade.

  9. Stacy says:

Am I crazy or does this version no longer let you view your timeline in landscape mode?

  10. Dan says:

Terrible! Make classic (pre 4.0) available!
    -Copy & Paste removed!
    -landscape mode removed!
-can’t see if someone follows you from their page.
-Can’t use twitter name as display name anymore forced to use real name.
-color coded tweets in timeline removed.
    -slide for options removed

  11. Cheryl says:

I just upgraded on my iPhone. My problem with it is that I have 2 twitter accts and the previous version allowed me to switch back and forth really easily. Now it seems I am stuck in one acct and I can’t figure out how to access the other. Anybody know how???

    • iPhoneHacks says:

Tap on the “Me” tab in the bottom right corner. Here you should see the Switch accounts option. Tap on it.

You should be able to see your other Twitter account here. Tap on it to switch accounts.
