If readers in Asia felt left out when Apple announced a special one day shopping event on Black Friday, November 25th, fear no longer as Apple has announced a special one day shopping event on Friday, January 6th in some Asian countries to celebrate the Lunar New year, which falls on January 23rd this year.
Dubbed "Red Friday," the event is similar to the "Black Friday" in the US and elsewhere where Apple offers discounts on Macs, iPads, and iPods, as well as accessories. But don't expect huge discounts, Apple typically gives a small discounts compared to other retailers.
In the U.S., Apple offered $101 discounts on their iMac, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air lines and $11-$41 discounts on the iPods and iPads.

The countries that are included in this promotion are China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. The deals are available via Apple's Online Store, as well as in the brick-and-mortar stores located in China and Hong Kong.
Interesting, I didn’t know a red Friday event even existed for the Chinese new year
Red friday? lol!
Company just put a label on anything so that they can make $ out of nothing!
Cant wait for this one, hopefully some good discounts.
Wedding guy,
A lot of asian country used the lunar calendar which base on the moon instead of the sun like western calendar. So, its lunar new year not Chinese new year!!!
Sadly, the Philippines wasn’t included. Was actually looking forward to it but the Phil apple store didn’t offer discounts.
