Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether Updated to Fix iBooks Issue

As expected, Jay Freeman a.k.a saurik has released an updated version of Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether to fix the annoying iBooks issue and launchd socket issue, which was randomly causing some issues.

pod2g announced the release of the updated Corona iOS 5.0.1 untether on his blog:

@saurik posted version 1.0.4 of Corona in Cydia. Update now ;-)

This fixes both the launchd socket issue (last fix didn't work randomly) and iBooks. Thanks to @xvolks for the development and @iH8sn0w for the testing.

Since pod2g's post, saurik has released another update for Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether, which forces a reboot of the iOS device after installing it. He tweets:

As many users don't realize that untethers only affects boot, I just released 1.0-5 of the Corona package, which forces a reboot on upgrade.

After installing the update, you should no longer hit the "Configuration Error".

If you have jailbroken your iOS device using Redsn0w or converted the tethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak to an untethered jailbreak using Corona then all you need to do is install the latest Corona update.

As always, let us know how it goes in the comments.

I got the error: ” i wasn’t able to locate file for the com.chronic-dev.greenpois0n.corona package. This might mean you need to manually fix this package” . What should I do?

  11. az says:

After installing Corona my mail quit working. It works is safe mode only. I tried restoring and jailbreaking again with no luck. Any advice?

  12. Mark says:

Weird effect – after installing Corona, the Maps app fails.

I installed Corona 1.0-5 on an iPhone 4. The iPhone had previously been jailbroken using redsn0w 0.9.10b3, preserving baseband 01.59.00.

Good news: the Corona install made iBooks work.
Bad news: the Corona install made Maps fail. Even after rebooting the iPhone (multiple times), pressing the Maps icon resulted in a brief moment while Maps was presumably loading, but then it reverted back to the home screen.

I uninstalled Corona in Cydia — which un-jailbroke the phone. :-O
Luckily, re-jailbreaking is easy; I simply again ran redsn0w 0.9.10b3, and Maps again worked (although iBooks is again not working).

I am not sure if this affects people who did NOT create the custom IPSW used to preserve baseband. And I am not sure that even people who jailbroke they way I did will experience the Maps app failure. But, this is a warning.

I have the same problem and i do NOT have custom firmware installed. Maps.app crashes shortly after launch. iBooks works (even the just released iBooks 2). My iPhone 4 is officially unlocked & currently jail-broken with Corona 1.0-5. I haven’t tried 2 re-jailbreak using Redsnow 0.9.10b4 yet & i am not sure if i need to. Any help would be appreciated.

    • Joey says:

@Mark: I got the issue fixed by uninstalling “Dashboard for Maps” tweak which I had installed, please uninstall that (if you have it) & any Maps related cydia tweaks & let me know if that fixes the issue for you :-) Hope this helps.

is there a news about jailbreak 5.0.1 for ipad 2

    Works like a charm! Thnx!!

  15. Mike says:

I have an Iphone 3gs with 5.01 I jailbroke it with an old version of redsnow 0.910b3 then I read about the new corona 1.05 or 5.01 ( whichever you perfer) untethered and installed it through cydia then my email app started to crash, will open for a short time to a blank screen then shut down. I uninstalled corona thinking it might fix the problem but after doing that all cydia apps crash then I downloaded redsnow 0.910b4 rejailbroke and got all cydia apps working again but still no e-mail I have tried deleteing my accounts and adding them again this still did not work. Even went ahead and installed corona again still have the same problem, everything was working until I installed corona through cydia. Short of ding a restore and jailbreaking again I think I have tried everything anyone have any Ideas?

    • Mike says:

Hey replying to my own problem just found out what was wrong on another thread, two other people had the same issue they had an app called any ring on their phone and when they uninstalled it mail works fine. I did this on mine and it worked have mail back now. Just thought Id post this if anyone else has the same problem. Obviously there is some conflict with any ring and corona 1.05.

  16. BP says:

    DO NOT INSTALL THIS

I was using the ibooksfix2 and ibooks worked fine.
Then decided to install the corona update, which lead to ibooks not working, nor e-mail and the freezes that everyone mentioned.

    inevitably I’m re-installing from scratch.

    WARNNNNNNNNNING.
