Following the release of the updated version of the Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether to fix the iBooks issue, iPhone Dev team has now released an updated version of Redns0w - Redsn0w 0.9.10b4, which includes the fix for the iBooks issue and launchd socket issue, which was randomly causing some issues.
iPhone Dev team has provided the following information on their blog:
The b4 version of redsn0w incorporates the 5.0.1 fix for iBooks, and also for sporadic problems with launchctl. Thanks to @xvolks for merging the iBooks (sandbox) fix from @comex’s github into the overall corona untether from @pod2g! As usual, you can choose to install the fix either by re-running redsn0w over your existing jailbreak (de-select Cydia if you do that), or by installing the corona package from Cydia (it’s the same set of files no matter which way you choose).
TIP: If auto-detection fails and redsn0w tells you no identifying data was found, you can always pre-select theappropriate 5.0.1 IPSW using “Extras->Select IPSW”.

Update: If you've already jailbroken your iOS device using Redns0w 0.9.10 then the easiest method is to install the Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether 1.0-5 from Cydia.

Run redsnowb4 and make sure to uncheck cydia.
I installed Corona 1.0.5 on top os Redsn0w b2 on iPhone4, as suggested in “update” above, now my phone is stuck into boot loop!
Any ideas how to fix it. Do I need to restore and apply Redsn0w b4?

Real smooth guys.. I installed the Corona patch update on my iPad1 and it stuffed up my screen and icons. I looks like it’s only for an iphone screen resolution. I can’t even get out of it. I’m restoring from backup now. As appreciative as I am for all your hard work, please take the reference out for iPad1 as it clearly doesn’t work.
PS: I was using the previous version of Redsnow 0.9.10b4.
ran corona on my redsnow jailbroken phone, went ok, but when i opened ibooks, it all gone wrong, it went to safe mode, tried to remove corona, and the phone never stopped turning on and off! now i am restoring my phone. any advise before i re-jailbreak again?
I had the same trouble as you. For other users out there, NEVER install Corona with your redsn0w jailbreak. It will just bring you to a respring loop.
yeah, i did run the b4 alone after restoring, everything went well now… just had to redownload everything i have cuz cydia’s aptbackup doesnt realy work. it does make phone run on safe mode.
After restore and JB from scratch with the new b4, ibooks work great! thanks guys!

Do we need to install iBooks after or before the jailbreak process (assuming we are starting from scratch)?
iPhone 4 updated through cydia everything went smooth for me
I ran the corona update as suggested no my email crashes when I try to read it, hell I can live without ibooks but I need my email. I have to wonder out loud about who is doing the testing before releasing these updates. it should be more than the development community every dev I have ever worked with say “it ran on my system” . A wider audience is needed for testing, the current method is not working.

I just downloaded the Corona file from Cydia on my iPhone 4 jailbroken with redsnow b3. I did not download ibooks till after I installed the Corona file. iBooks now works like normal again. Thanks.

I have tried to jailbreak my iPad 1 using the b4 that overwrites the b3 redsn0w jailbreak. It hanged during the process of jailbreaking on the device. I tried to get it out of DFU mode and ended up my iPad to respring non-stop. I have unchecked the ‘Install Cydia’.
Had to restore my iPad in the end.
I would like to know if b4 works on the iPhone 4S.
So I used Redsnow 0.9.10b3 to jailbreak my iPhone4 and ipad1 and iBooksFix2 to fix iBooks. So what are the steps for me to use Redsnow 0.9.10b4. Do I uninstall iBooks and the iBooksFix2? or do I just rejailbreak both devices with Redsnow 0.9.10b4.

That happen to me on my pc so I went on my bros pc n worked good try using a diff pc hopefully that’ll work if not sorry
Wow I just jailbreak my Itouch 4g it works n all but messed up my volume now it sounds low this sux so I’m about to unjailbreak it hopefully my volume returns to normal

Also they advise us to go to 5.o.1 before apple stops signing it and then it will just be harder for you to do it and once apple comes out with the new firmware then who knows how long it will take for another jailbreak so what the hell u waiting for get on it before it closes noob and there isn’t any issues and all the new tweaks are on ios5 no mOre new stuff coming out for ios 4 because it’s dead just restore to 5.0.1 using iTunes then download the new redsnow b4 and just hit one dam freaking button (JAILBREAK) and remember you don’t need to find no dam ipsw anymore cuz the reds now doesn’t need to that anymore its easier then before noob then once u jailbreak then search for corona to make unthered and remember they said to hurry up and do it because apple is gonna kill corona so why are u on 4.3 noob?

I got into dfu mode but it did not recognize my iPod and I got stuck in dfu mode the end

My iphone 3gs messsup in respring / reboot loop. Before this i can fix it without connect my iphone on the computer.
Now i cant use my iphone3gs in one day.
How can i fix it without restore via itunes?
Just now try restoring using itune. it says error 1611.
Next move. Use redsn0w b4 and rejailbreak it again and let see what happened here.
