Redns0w 0.9.10b5: Untethered iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak Updated To Fix iBooks DRM Issue

Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Redsn0w

iPhone Dev team has released an updated version of Redns0w – Redsn0w 0.9.10b5, which includes the fix for the iBooks issue involving DRM.

Please note that Redsn0w and Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether jailbreak supports iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod touch 4G, iPod touch 3G and Absinthe jailbreak and the Redsn0w CLI tool supports iPhone 4S and iPad 2. So this update is not meant for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users.

iPhone Dev team has provided the following information on their blog about the latest version:

redsn0w version b5 incorporates yet another fix for iBooks, this time involving DRM.  @planetbeing wrote a utility called “crazeles” that overcomes jailbreak detection by iBooks that would cause about 10% of images to show incorrectly.  This fix is similar to the “hunnypot” fix that @comex wrote for the 4.x jailbreak.  As usual, you can choose to install the fix either by re-running redsn0w over your existing jailbreak (de-select Cydia if you do that), or by installing the corona package from Cydia (it’s the same set of files no matter which way you choose).
TIP: If auto-detection fails and redsn0w tells you no identifying data was found, you can always pre-select the appropriate 5.0.1 IPSW using “Extras->Select IPSW”.
Chronic Dev team are also expected an update for the Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether (v1.0.6). If you’ve already jailbroken your iOS device using Redns0w 0.9.10 then the easiest method is to install the Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether from Cydia when it is available. You can also re-run Redsn0w over the existing jailbreak, but remember to de-select.

    Has anyone tryed installing over a jailbreak i tried a while back and it just messed everything up and i had to restore. I deselected cydia also

      What do I do if I have already jailbroken recently with the previous version of Redsnow? Do I have to reinstall all of my jailbreak apps and settings? Don’t really want to do that.

    to all users here, be thankful that untethered jb was released. if it doesn’t work right for your iphone, go back to stock and never touch jb again. do not complain if it is not working on your iphone. give them a break please. if knowing that so much problems arises, they (dev) could have just keep it and never release it at all. then all will cry. be happy people.

    This is off topic, but after installing hands free for iPhone 4s every time I plug my iPhone 4s into an iPod dock it plays fine for about 7-10 minutes then the music get staticky.

    Anybody else have this problem?

    I have a iPhone 4 that are jailbreaked with redsn0w 0.9.10b4. This morning I installed Corona 5.0.1 untether app from Cydia. I saw after the installation that the version of Corona was 1.0-5 and not 1.0-6. Can this broke my jailbreak that already has redsn0w 0.9.10b4?

    If I reinstall this, do I have to re-download all of my jailbreak apps? Can someone please provide a step by step guide if I have already used this program to jailbreak?

      Do a backup with your pc and then just sync them again.

      For Cydia apps, get APTBackup.

    If you’ve already jailbroken your iOS device using Redns0w 0.9.10 then the easiest method is to install the Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether from Cydia (current version is 1.0.8)
