Few days back, pod2G revealed that the jailbreak "Dream Team" had managed to successfully break the sandbox that had prevented pod2g from releasing the untethered jailbreak publicly.
This meant that the release of the eagerly awaited untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users was imminent. pod2g said that it should be released in a "matter of days".
This led to speculations that the jailbreak "Dream team" will release the untethered jailbreak for the A5 powered devices today as Sunday is popular as the fun day for the jailbreak community.
However, we don't expect it to be released today based on the recent tweets by MuscleNerd and planetbeing:
MuscleNerd: When it's done and *fully* tested; be patient :) Rush jobs lead to mistakes, which are *very* expensive on A5 right now.
Erik Smets: mistake => unstable => restore => no more JB if signing window is closed. I'd rather wait a few more days/weeks.
MuscleNerd: yep that's a very good summary of the problem we're trying to avoid! Hah, awesome to see these concepts+concerns propagate :)
planetbeing: Finally got unsigned code running on my 4S with the stuff that will go into the new jailbreak!
planetbeing: I was working on it every second I was awake yesterday. There's a lot of work that needs to be done. No one said it'd be quick.
As you can see, there is still quite a bit of work to be done, so it is very unlikely that it will be release today.
Please note that MuscleNerd has also advised users who are interested in unlocking their iPhone 4s to avoid upgrading to iOS 5.0.1.
MuscleNerd: iPhone4S users should follow same guidelines as previous iPhones: stay on lowest baseband possible (so for 4S, stay at 5.0)
MuscleNerd: that guideline is for carrier unlockers
As MuscleNerd has mentioned, please be patient as the jailbreak dream team is working hard to release it as soon as possible.

Apparently what you’re not reading is that you shouldn’t update if you NEED CARRIER UNLOCK. And unless you’re new to jailbreaking you should’ve known that already because it’s mentioned EVERY single time a new JB release is about to happen.

I would definitely agree that rush job = unstability. Even the current jailbreak for i4 is quite unstable and mobile substrate crashes quite often. So better to iron out as many crashes as possible. Moreover, somehow I feel that apple is waiting for this jailbreak to be released before they release 5.02 or 5.1 since they have never taken this long between a beta and a final release. Would others agree?

I think apple is skipping 5.0.2 because battery issues are intermittent right now. Chances are they will just do everything in 5.1 …. and 5.1 may not be released until announcements of the next device or update that they plan to announce at the end of february .. iPad 3 maybe maybe not .. but whatever the announcement is about, is most likely going to coincide with 5.1
Jb will happen when it is ready, sooooooo many leaches want everything for free, make your own jb or wait better still stop being such a tight ass and actuly pay for the apps you want, but wait you are a leach and want them for free. Lots of people want jailbreaks for legit reasons. I have a paid account with an online music service. Unfortunately, the site is Flash-based. They have an iPad app, but Apple refuses to allow it in the app store. Jailbreaking is my only solution for using my PAID service on an iPad.

Who cares. By the time they release a jailbreak they will have the A6 to worry about. Dev teams do a great job but let’s face it, jailbreaking is coming to an end. Dev team is smart… Apple is smarter. I suggest that people get used to the features that come with the phone/iPad, or buy a different phone.

This really sucks. How the hell was apple able to patch the baseband exploit in the 5.0 exploit before it got released? I just hope he is saying this just to prevent pple from upgrading unnecessarily. I can’t think of anyone who is currently running 5.0 at the moment.

Pod2g is a jail breaker not an unlocker, if you ever read any unlocking info they say don’t upgrade as they can not promise to unlock the newer baseband, and they always say you have to preserve the baseband by using custom ispw by using redsnow and the like, if your going to do something try to do your homework so you at least have an idea what’s going on yourself and stop blaming others

I got the ipad2 on the 5.0, i just brought this program off youtube that enabled me to download apps without a jailbreak, it works fine. I’ll use it until the jailbreak comes out
and it only cost 10 bucks, so I’ll hold on until the Dev team does there thing

Wish they would have said something about NOT updating earlier. I clearly remember Pod2g saying go ahead and update 4s because if 5.0.1 is stopped from being signed then you’ll have problems jailbreaking. And i followed that advice. Now i’m afraid i’ve lost the sim unlocked. Not that i used the feature, just good knowing its there is all.
Bottom line is their doing hard work so that we can do an “optional” alter to our phone. You are not paying for anything, therefore no need to complain. Just say thanks and wait for the release. Greed isn’t good.
seriously am frustrated.. ive sent out mutiple questions as far as updating to 5.0.1 dev team. i have been on 5.0 for ABOUT 4 months and just upgraded to 5.0.1 last night. i even made my gf upgrade to the same firmware. i have asked multiple times should i upgrade to this new firmware being that it would upgrade my baseband. i have asked multiple time if it were possible to upgrade and preserve my previous baseband. i searched google for the past 6 days with no answers. now you guys come out with this information telling everyone not to upgrade if they want to unlock their phones. you guys are extremly great at what you do but you do not read our questions. after having my 4s for about 4 months i am now on 1.0.13 because you havent responded back to us. thanks for the frustration.

Yea i guess not, when I finally get the answer to this question after holding out on the upgrade for so long. Nothing was on on the internet in reference to not upgrading the 4s to preserve the BB until now, and i mean absolutely nothing. Wats done is done, just hope I can still unlock my 4s 1 day.
