pod2G has just published a new blog post confirming what we had reported earlier.
The jailbreak dream team have managed to successfully break the sandbox that had prevented pod2G from releasing an untethered jailbreak publicly.
This means that the eagerly awaited untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users is imminent. In fact, pod2G says it "should be a matter of days".
He writes:
Here are some news about the current work on the A5 research.
@planetbeing escaped from the sandbox with the help of @saurik. Thanks to their awesome work, there should be nothing left blocking for the A5 jailbreak.
Now it should be a matter of days. Still no precise ETA of course.
We all want this to be finished ASAP, we're getting tired!
It remains to be seen if they will wait for Apple to release iOS 5.1 that is currently being beta tested by developers. But as there is always a risk that Apple can fix the exploit that was used to perform the untethered jailbreak in the next iOS firmware update, we feel that jailbreak dream team are most likely not going to wait for Apple to release iOS 5.1, just like they have done for non-A5 devices.
So if you want to jailbreak your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 then you may want to update it to iOS 5.0.1 in case you haven't done so already as pod2G had advised last week and take a backup of SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella for Mac/Windows or iFaith for Windows.

i cant stand andoid… the apps on it are like 4th party pre college student made…. the quality is awful. if you look at the TOP 20 apps, its all crap besides a few that originated from iOS
then y dont u try developing and if ur not as lost as u are u would be able to use so much more with an android device over apple any day

There was a rumor musclenerd was able to unlock the 4s baseband. Hopefully we get some more feedback on that once the JB is out. I made the mistake of buying a brand new in the box ATT 4s thinking if i first activate with a Tmobile sim card, that will prevent it from being locked to ATT. Biggest mistake. Bought this on craigslist so was unable to get my money back.
apple sales unlocked phones….its your fault you wasted money.

Well this is fantastic news and finally I’ll upgrade my iPad 2 to iOS 5! I agree that they should release the jailbreak after iOS 5.1 comes out that way we have a firmware with lots of features.

It doest matter about your baseband. The 4s will probably not have an unlock either, such as baseband 04.11.08 on the iphone 4.

I can’t wait. The only thing I want this jailbreak for is to disable the sh*tty accessory splash screen. I got an iPhone 4s and now I can not use it with my car stereo and it is even worse with iTunes match because the alternative player (panamp) don’t support iTunes match! So annoying. Why can’t apple just let us disable the accessory connected screen?????

iPhone Hacks does cydia save your SHSH blobs for 5.0.1 on iPad 2 even though you are still running on ios 4.3.3? When ever I go into cydia on my iPad 2 it says that it has my SHSH Blobs for 5.0.1 even though I am still running on ios 4.3.3. Thanks!
Yes this is new cydia feature, but u should save under tiny umbella via sinfuliphone.com since cydia shsh is not 100% saved with a file

Is your power button actually broken, or is it just jammed? If you are good at taking devices apart, you can take it apart and check to see if the button is just jammed, more than likely it is. Other than that, from my experience, you need the power button to enter DFU.
