Apple to Unveil iPad 3 in First Week of March

AllThingsD has just reported that Apple will be holding an event in the first week of March to release the highly anticipated next generation iPad.

AllThingsD's John Paczkowski writes:

Sources say the company has chosen the first week in March to debut the successor to the iPad 2, and will do so at one of its trademark special events. The event will be held in San Francisco, presumably at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Apple’s preferred location for big announcements like these.

Paczkowski doesn't know the date of the special event, but expects iPad 3 to be available a week or so after the event.

According to his source, iPad 3 will have a similar form factor as iPad 2, come with a much faster chip, an improved graphics processing unit (GPU), and featuring a 2048×1536 Retina Display, which is in-line with the rumors we've heard recently.

AllThingsD has been quite a reliable source when it comes to Apple related information.

It remains to be seen if 2012 will be the year of iPad 3.

Only complain I have for ipad2 is 3G(too slow). If the new iPad doesn’t equipped with LTE I will pass this one. My ipad2 is still plenty fast, the battery lasts couple days easily I don’t see why I need to get one unless its LTE. Then it’s a different story.

Well, we all have our own preferences and I think 3G is enough. I get fast speeds here in Sweden and stream 720p from Plex server at home with no glitches. It was not as smooth while I was still living in US.
My personal first prio would be the Retina display with more business software while I would never sacrifice the excellent battery performance. More RAM is very important especially with the higher res. Too bad you can’t opt for more for the multitasking. Faster processor might also be essential for the retina res.

Good for you that you have fast 3g speed in Sweden. Where i live(Fort Worth, TX) my 3g speed never go above 1.2mbps(verizon wireless). 90% of time, I only get around 0.4mbps(according to speedtest app). So no it’s not enough for me I can barely stream videos. However, my wife’s iphone with AT&T often gets above 2.5mbps so that’s fast enough to stream videos. But when my friends get 18mbps on their 4g devices 3g is plain slow.

Was going to buy a new iPad 2 this week after my old one got stolen however I will just wait for the new iPad 3. Hopefully we get a jb for it. Would prefer an unlock for the 4s but I’ve more than given up on that happening.

There should be a question mark for the title of this article. Or the word rumors in there somewhere. I thought its legitimate news when i saw a title but its still rumors!!!
