Apple to Launch Redesigned iTunes Store And App Store Later This Year?

Mac OS Lion

9 to 5 Mac has just reported that Apple plans to launch a redesigned iTunes Store and App Store later this year.

According to 9 to 5 Mac, Apple decided to redesign the iTunes Store and App Store on priority after the launch of Spotify – a popular music streaming service in the U.S. and to tackle the growing popularity of Amazon’s online music store.

Here’s what they’ve heard about the redesigned iTunes Store:

The new design is said to be even simpler and more user-friendly than the current design. Apple is working on ways to enhance the speed and efficiency of finding new content, such as songs, videos, and applications. The cornerstone element of Apple’s new iTunes Store is interactivity. As Apple vaguely explained to a number of music labels and entertainment partners, Apple is looking to make the iTunes Store a much more engaging experience.

We’re not a big fan of the iTunes application, so we’re glad to hear that Apple will be launching a redesigned iTunes Store and App Store later this year. It remains to be seen if Apple releases a redesigned iTunes application or tweaks just the iTunes Store.

Let’s hope Apple launches a new iTunes application rather than just redesigning the iTunes Store and App Store as one of the biggest complaints about the current iTunes application has been that it is too slow.

9 to 5 Mac goes on to add:

The new iTunes Store interactivity features are said to be for the iTunes Music, Movies, TV Show, and App Store sections, but may very well spread to the iBookstore.

What do you think about the possibility of a redesigned iTunes Store and App Store later this year? Let us know in the comments.
