The biggest game of the year - Super Bowl XLVI starts in less than 12 hours from now (3:30 p.m. PST and 6:30 p.m. EST).
Here's a list of apps that you can use to either catch the live action on your iPhone or iPad or to enhance your viewing experience.
Verizon's NFL Mobile app
Back in December, NFL announced that it will stream the Super Bowl and the Pro Bowl live to Verizon's NFL Mobile app for iPhone and iPad. However, as an iPhone user with 3G data plan, you may need to also subscribe to Verizon Video ($10/month or $3/day).
Users will be able to watch the game online in HD, access DVR-style controls and select additional camera angles. They'll also get access to in-game highlights, live statistics and other interactive elements.
Unfortunately, this means that it will be available only to Verizon Wireless customers.
You can download Verizon's NFL Mobile app using this Apple Store link.
Note: Bell Canada customers can watch the Super Bowl live on Bell's Mobile TV app. However, you need to pay $5 extra for 5 hours of mobile TV data plan.
Update: Users in the UK can catch Super Bowl 2012 live on BBC One on TVCatchup for free on their iPhone (using this link) and iPad (using this link). Thanks @Jon_II for reminding us about TVCatchup!
SlingPlayer for iPhone
If you're not a Verizon customer but have Slingbox SOLO or PRO-HD at home then you can watch the live action by using SlingPlayer for iPhone or the app for iPad.
You can download SlingPlayer for iPhone using this App Store link. iPad 3G users can use this App Store link.
SB XLVI Guide
If you are in Indianapolis to watch the game at Lucas Oil Stadium (lucky you!) then don't forget to download this companion app that was released by NFL earlier in the week. It includes the following features:
- A detailed guide to local restaurants, nightlife, and official Super Bowl events
- A 3D map of Indianapolis and an interactive 3D map of Lucas Oil Stadium for gameday
- You can follow all of the social media buzz with NFL Huddle
- Pin your parking spot and find your seating section in the stadium
You can download SB XLVI Guide from the App Store using this link.
IntoNow
IntoNow from Yahoo is Shazam for your TV. The television companion app automatically identifies the show you are watching and gives you related content, personalized recommendations, and discussions to connect with friends.
IntoNow has announced that Yahoo has tied up PepsiMAX to launch a promotion, which gives you a chance to win Pepsi for life, if you use IntoNow during the Super Bowl.
You can download IntoNow for iPhone and iPad using this App Store link.
Ebay for iPad:
Late last year, Ebay's iPad app got a cool new feature called "Watch With eBay", which will show you all the items on eBay related to the game when you tune in to the Super Bowl game, so you can buy your favorite team's merchandise on your iPad.
You can download Ebay's iPad app using this App Store link.
That's it from us, hope you enjoy the game even more with these apps!
Note: If you know of an app that should have made it to our list then please feel free to drop us a line in the comments. We'll happy to add it after giving it a quick look.

AT&T sux !!
Are the ads soooo good?
So out of all this we can only watch with Verizon’s app or the singlemobile app. This article sucks
I agree, unfortunately.
The bbc tips is fantastic (I have a uk VPN!)
Just go to veetle.com at game time on your iPhone or iPad …
How do you find the superbowl on veetle? Will it be obvious using the veetle app on an iphone? Does it matter if I’m on the AT&T Network?
For ipone/ iPod touch owners, You can watch the Super Bowl free @ Veetle.com
there are a lot of ways to watch for free
Notes that turning on your TV is another way to see it free.
Apple just make money for Iphone Ipad. For Samsung Galaxy S2 Watch for Free.
Or get eyetv one and over the air antenna for $60 and stream ot from your Mac to your iPhone or iPad
I can tell you if a lot of people try to watch super bowl live stream on the iphone and ipod then its not going to be very good. I have tried watching a game on NFL.com before and it has its share of issues. I can only imagine how bad it is on a mobile device.
Has anyone thought about using Justin.tv? The public streams let you post whatever you choose.
