Apple’s App Store crossed the milestone of 25 billion app downloads on Saturday

Apple has finally announced the 25th billionth app downloaded and winner of the ’25 Billion App Countdown’ promotion who gets $10,000 iTunes gift card.

Apple has issued the following press release:

The 25 billionth app downloaded, Where’s My Water? Free, was downloaded by Chunli Fu of Qingdao, China. As the winner of the App Store Countdown to 25 Billion Apps, Chunli Fu will receive a $10,000 iTunes® Gift Card.

“We’d like to thank our customers and developers for helping us achieve this historic milestone of 25 billion apps downloaded,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “When we launched the App Store less than four years ago, we never imagined that mobile apps would become the phenomenon they have, or that developers would create such an incredible selection of apps for iOS users.”

That’s alot of music, movies, games and apps. Shoulda gave him an iPad as well. Oh wait, it’s china. What the hell is anyone gonna do with $10,000 worth of music, movies, games and apps? The most rediculous prize I ever heard. Bring it on.

If only iTunes had adult films on it. I would have bought $10,000 worth to support the struggling adult film industry.

    Wow!
First time that a user outside the US win something around the Store-Downloads.

But a 10.000 Dollar gift-card. I the past Apple spend a bit more for their customers.

    Take a view on wiki:
    1 billion songs sold: February 23, 2006
(Alex Ostrovsky of West Bloomfield, Michigan, bought the billionth song, “Speed of Sound” by Coldplay.[46] He later got a call from Steve Jobs with the good news that the sixteen-year-old was getting ten iPods, an iMac, a $10,000 music gift certificate, and a scholarship established in his name at the Juilliard School.)[36]

Sell the gift card easy money $9500

    • Eric

It’s like selling food stamps, you don’t get 95% of the face value. 50 to 60% seems more likely.

      • ChingChow

That would buy a lot of rice.

  • Fingers21

I thought it could be used to buy a mac, iPad, iPhone etc too?! Anything from the apple store, aswell as apps and music.

  • Dan

I guess the odds of someone from china winning were with him!!!

  • Frank

So having problems in china ……

  • AppleCider

It would have been much nicer if 10 customers were given $1000 each don’t you think?

    • Eric

Or if 10,000 customers were given $1 each, how about that?

  • Sako

I don’t think she can buy apple product, because it’s iTunes gift card not apple store gift card. So basically she can get whatever in iTunes.. movies, songs, apps. etc…
