Redire: Jailbreak Tweak Brings Back iOS 5 Camera Shortcut to iOS 5.1

Apple introduced an easier way to access the Camera app with a new slider button in iOS 5.1. Simply swiping up on the home screen button reveals the Camera app.

But if you don’t like the new slider button to access the Camera app, then a new jailbreak tweak developed by Ron Melkhoir allows you to revert back to the original camera button.

Redire allows you to put back the original camera button, just like iOS 5.0.1.

Redire is available for free in Cydia.

Though some users seem to be a little confused with the new slider button, we prefer the new sliding button and find it a lot faster to access the Camera app. In case you haven’t noticed, if you tap on the sliding button (cause you intuitively tend to tap on a button), the screen bounces, almost prompting you to swipe on the button to access the Camera app, which we thought was a nice touch and Apple’s way of educating users about this no so obvious UI change.

If you’re on iOS 5/iOS 5.0.1, then you can check out Camera Grabber – a jailbreak tweak which brings iOS 5.1’s sliding camera button to iOS 5/iOS 5.01.

It’s nice to know that we can have it any way we’d like no matter what iOS were on. Cool.

I’m confused, when did the iOS 5.1 Jailbreak get released?

Ah yes, it’s for old devices, not the current ones
