pod2g: iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Release is Just a ‘Matter of Days’ Away

pod2g has just tweeted that the release of the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is almost ready and the release is just ‘a matter of days’ away.

pod2g tweeted:

Thanks to awesome work of @planetbeing and @pimskeks, we’re near ready for a release. Now it’s a matter of days.

As reported earlier, pod2g’s has tested and confirmed that his untethered jailbreak works on the following iOS devices:

  • iPhone 3Gs
  • iPhone 4
  • iPhone 4 CDMA
  • iPhone 4S
  • iPad 1
  • iPad 2 Wifi
  • iPad 2 GSM
  • iPad 2 CDMA
  • iPad 3 Wifi
  • iPad 3 CDMA
  • iPod 3G
  • iPod 4G
His iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak currently does not work on Apple TV 3. Here is the list of devices, he still needs to test and confirm if it works on them:
  • iPad 2 Wifi, R2
  • iPad 3 Global
  • AppleTV 2

But pod2g is quite confident that his untethered jailbreak will work on all iOS 5.1.1 devices except for Apple TV 3.

It remains to be seen if pod2g and Chronic Dev team will release the jailbreak at the Hack in the Box conference that starts tomorrow, May 21st and ends on May 25th, as they have hinted of some jailbreak goodness during the event. With the latest tweet, it is quite possible.

Update:

We’ve updated the list of devices that pod2g’s iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak will support as he seems to have just updated his blog as well. Thanks Stan for the heads up!

        Just go into iTunes or on to software update seattle settings of your device and update to 5.1.1 an then just wait for the jailbreak to be released

      iPad 3 global? Is that meaning the WiFi + Not 4G in the UK?

        the iPad 3 Global is the GSM LTE version. The AT&T version here in the US, or whatever GSM provider you have worldwide. The WiFi version in the UK is no different than the WiFI US version and will be supported. The GSM LTE version will likely also be supported, but hasnt been tested yet.

    Question: I have a iPhone 4 already running a tethered jailbreak on 5.1.1 using redsn0w. When this untethered jailbreak releases how do I switch over? Do I just jailbreak over the existing tethered jailbreak? Or do I have to unjailbreak my phone first then apply this new one?

        I’m releasing my jailbreak in 1 week. In other words: i’m gonna say it’s gonna take another week, by the end of the week, and after that week i’ll announce that it will take some more days. After those days have past, i will set a date on a convention. When that convention has come, i will say my jailbreak is only ” a matter of days”. Only after that, after 4-5 days, i will release it.
