pod2g: iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Will Also Work on iPhone 3GS And iPod Touch 3G

Some good news for iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3G users. Few days back, pod2g had said that his untethered jailbreak did not work with iPod touch 3G on iOS 5.1.1 and hence also may not work with iPhone 3GS.

But he has just tweeted that they’ve figured out a way to jailbreak iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3G as well.

He tweeted:

Good news. We’ve found a way through for iPod 3G and iPhone 3Gs users. Upcoming jailbreak will be compatible.

So based on that update, pod2g’s has tested and confirmed that his untethered jailbreak works on the following iOS devices:

  • iPhone 4
  • iPhone 4S
  • iPad 1
  • iPad 2 Wi-Fi
  • iPad 3 Wi-Fi
  • iPad 3 Wi-Fi + 4G (CDMA)
  • iPod touch 3G
  • iPod touch 4G
His iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak currently does not work on Apple TV 3. Here is the list of devices, he still needs to test and confirm if it works on them:
  • iPhone 3Gs
  • iPad 2 GSM
  • iPad 2 CDMA
  • iPad 2 Wifi, R2
  • iPad 3 CDMA
  • iPad 3 Global
  • AppleTV 2
Earlier in the week, pod2g announced that it will take two weeks to release the user friendly tool to jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 devices. It remains to be seen if pod2g and Chronic Dev team will release the jailbreak at the Hack in the Box conference that starts on Monday, May 21st, where they will be presenting as they have hinted of some jailbreak goodness during the event.

    I JB’ed my 3GS old bootrom using the latest redsn0w_win_0.9.11b4, and it was untethered JB….my 2 cents but thanks those hackers who made it happened.

    To Mike you dont have to wait for snowbereeze to be released , all what you have to do is to creat a custum firmwire with the new redsn0w that will be released to preserve your basbanand then jailbreak with same redsn0w to get untethered and there u are good to go no more waiting
