Dash: Jailbreak Tweak Aims To Replace iOS App Switcher

SBCoders – developers of popular jailbreak tweaks such as Deck – that adds a hot bar to iPhone’s Springboard, are planning to a release a new jailbreak tweak called Dash.

Dash is a replacement for the iOS app switcher with some additional features such as the ability to close running apps.

Dash is now available on Cydia.

The Dash app switcher will offer the following features:

  • Native iOS look and feel
  • Easily switch between your running apps
  • You can choose from five different animations styles such as scroll, coverFlow, rotary, wheel, cylinder, time machine etc.
  • Swipe up to close running apps

You can access Dash using an Activator action. The jailbreak tweak will be compatible with the iPhone and iPad.

Check out the video of the jailbreak tweak in action below:

Dash offers a much better app switcher interface thanks to the full-screen view of the apps and more importantly it doesn’t look out of place like some of the other app switchers tweaks like Imperium.

The jailbreak tweak doesn’t seem to offer quick access to the music controls available in the iOS app switcher, but we hear that the music controls will be available in the final version of the tweak.

SBCoders may release Dash for $1.99 on Cydia. There is no release date yet, but it could be released before the end of the August. We’ll let you know as soon as released.

Update (August 27, 2012):

SBCoders have just released Dash on Cydia. As expected it is available for $1.99. Unfortunately, the final version  doesn’t provide quick access to the music controls and orientation lock that are available in the iOS app switcher.

As some readers have pointed out, Dash is quite similar to Multifl0w, which probably is one of the best replacements for the iOS app switcher. Check out more details about Multifl0w here.

This tweak is very clean and fluid but I enjoy using MultiflOw because I can choose to kill a running app and it displays all of my apps currently running

You can swipe up to kill the app with this tweak as well.

music is best part of this clip. can’t see much of a difference comparing card switcher & i can’t remember multiflow. most of these tweaks get left behind with each ios upgrade & , backup & restore for cydia apps never worked for me then , what i normally do is i get a trial to play around with and review but then suggest best practice to the developer to sell the tweak to apple dev team. take care, marc

Multitasking is about switching to recently used apps FAST and easy. I don’t like swiping 2-3 times just to open god damn Mail or something…

  • Maxtor

pointless for my iPad. i can already switch page by page with four finger swiping. ok for iphone i guess. i prefer aero on iPhone. i wish Aero worked on my iPad

  • Deen

it doesn’t kill the running apps. After swiping up the running apps double click the home button and you’ll see the apps are still there. i4 ios 5.1.1. Although i liked the interface more, multiflow works better.
