Mobiata – developer of FlightTrack – one of our favorite apps in the App Store released a free version of the app earlier in the week called FlightTrack Free.
The app is not only free, it also comes with a completely redesigned user interface.
FlightTrack Free includes the following features:
- Completely redesigned interface that integrates the flight details and flight map
- Real-time departure & arrival info, delays, gate numbers and baggage claim info
- Zoomable maps with satellite imagery
- Covers more than 16,000 airports worldwide
- Full international flight coverage with 1,400 airlines
- Search and track a single flight at a time
FlightTrack Free is available worldwide in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Russian and Spanish.

Mobiata also offers two paid versions of the app – FlightTrack ($4.99) and FlightTrack Pro ($9.99).
FlightTrack offers features such as the ability to track multiple flights and up to 11 months in advance, find alternative flights, sync flights with the Calendar app, seating info from SeatGuru and lots more.
In addition to the features available in FlightTrack, FlightTrack Pro offers features such as push alerts for flight updates, terminal maps for arriving and departing airports, weather forecast at arriving and departing airports.
FlightTrack and FlightTrack Pro are universal apps unlike FlightTrack Free, which is available only for the iPhone.
If you’re a frequent flyer then it’s a must-have iPhone app. With the free app, you get a chance to try the app before you decide to buy the paid version, which in our opinion is worth every penny.
Note: The paid app haven’t been updated with the redesigned user interface, we’re not sure if Mobiata plans to release new versions of the app soon with the redesigned user interface as it looks quite good. We’ve sent an email to the company for a confirmation. Update: We’ve just received an update from Mobiata that the paid versions will be update with the redesigned user interface “in the near future”.
