Interestingly, last week we discovered that Steve Jobs who had said that a 7″ tablet is too small to deliver a satisfactory user experience in 2010, was “very receptive” to the idea of a 7-inch iPad by early 2011.
We’ve already seen engineering samples and several mockups of what the iPad mini may look like based on the purported schematics. But the mockups published by Gizmodo yesterday are probably the best we’ve seen so far, as it looks like a smaller iPad 3, which is in line with our expectation.
Jesus Diaz of Gizmodo writes:
Like the many iPhone mockups we have published before, these renderings were created using rumoured specifications: a 7.85-inch display, the new mini-dock port and a back camera.
We’re also assuming that this new tablet will use the industrial design language used by Apple — and Samsung — in their current respective hardware.
You can also check out this post to see how the 7.85-inch iPad mini stacks up against other 7-inch tablets like Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPad mini at a media event on September 12th, along with the next generation iPhone and iPod touch.
