iPhone 5 Lines Have Already Started

iPhone 5 lines have already started with just four days to go for official launch.

Apple started taking iPhone 5 pre-orders on Friday and sold out it’s iPhone 5 stock for launch day delivery in less than an hour and is currently quoting delivery estimates of 2-3 weeks.

Delivery estimates for new iPhone 5 pre-orders have also slipped by more than a week on Verizon and AT&T is quoting shipping estimates of 14-21 business days.

So one way to get your hands on Apple’s new iPhone 5 is to line up early outside an Apple retail store. Fortune reports that the iPhone 5 line has already started outside Apple’s flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York City. Fortune reports that the first and second person in the line set up camp at 8:00 am on Thursday. But they have an hidden objective of standing in the line, they are promoting their social media app.

Like last year, some are hoping to sell their spot for someone who doesn’t have the patience but wants to be one of the first to get his/her hand on iPhone 5.

Some of you might call this crazy but Robert Scoble had aptly put it “waiting in line for an Apple product is glorious, even if it is idiotic.”

    i also want an iphone, however standing in line for hour(or days) is just stupid. especially if you already own an iphone that will be upgraded to the latest iOS. i can wait for a couple of months with my 4s.

    I’m in Australia. I preordered it last week and received a confirmation message yesterday that the order has been processed and that they are waiting for stock to ship it to me. No definite dates have been quoted on such a ship date.

    They are dumb, you can just order it online these days, it’s not like Apple is going to run out of phones and never make anymore of them. Better line up or you won’t get one! lol

    Hmm, I stayed up late on Thursday on my comfy couch and ordered. Why camp outside for a week? Wish these morons would do something more positive with that time. Knit a damn shirt for the homeless or something.

    I’m HARDLY saying I agree with doing this, but i think a lot of the reason people do this is for the experience itself. They are going to make friends and have stories to tell and memories of a fun time spent with new people.

    I’m afraid these are going to be our generations’ “I walked barefoot through the snow, uphill both ways” stories, which is very sad. However, if I were single and didn’t have 2 kids, I honestly think I might have to try this once (not for a week though, MAYBE over one night tops).

    Are the stores even going to get them? One of my co-workers went to our local store and was told that there wouldn’t be any in store stock for a month or two.
