Several Users Reporting Issues With iMessage [Updated: Back Up]

If you’re having a problem with iMessage then you’re not alone. We’ve received a number of emails from our readers to report that they’re having problems with iMessage – Apple’s messaging service.

While Apple is currently reporting that there is no issue, a search on Twitter seems to indicate that several users are affected.

Users seem to be experiencing delays while sending messages and are also reporting that they’re getting an error message that the “iMessage was not delivered”.

Users are reporting the issue while on cellular network as well as over Wi-Fi network. However, it doesn’t seem to be a complete outage as some users are reporting that they’re able to send and receive messages without any problem.

Are you facing the issue? Let us know in the comments.

Update 1:

If you’re facing the problem, you can disable iMessage until the issue is resolved by following these simple steps. Launch the Settings app, scroll down to Messages, tap on it and then tap on iMessage toggle to disable it.

Update 2:

iMessage seems to be back up. Are you still facing the problem?

We’ll let you know as soon as the issue is resolved so you can re-enable it.

I have had trouble with iMessage from Day 1. I have to check all the time to make sure that they go through. If they don’t, you can just touch the “!” and send it as a regular text instead.

It doesn’t work fine today… And it’s not the first time…

Yep having this issue, exactly as described above. 3G or wifi, delays and “message failure” issues. However, many of the messages that say they failed are actually getting delivered. Hope this gets fixed ASAP.

You can temporarily disable iMessage. We’ve updated the post with the instructions.

It’s back now, but this is the 3rd time it’s happened since last Friday. Friday was the worst day it lasted for a few hours at least.

My iMessage on my Mac got disconnected by itself and it didn’t detect my email nor number for iMessage til 5 minutes later now it’s fine

Ive rebooted the phone and it seems to be better now

    yep – undelivered messages

I’m never going to re-enable it. I pay for 1000 texts/month and usually only end up using around 300. What the hell good is iMessage anyway? It’s always been buggy.

lost an iMessage last week…was not delivered

We’ve also been affected something like a month ago in the North of France, checked with a few friends and iMessage was bugged for an entire evening. Happened twice.

Ive had this issue for awhile always thought it was my network until recently it started happening on wifi, rebooting the phone is always a quick fix though

Iphone with issues and being rebooted? Sounds like pulling the battery without a removable battery.

I’ve been having the issue still. Just today I didn’t get a message from a friend due to iMessage failure to send.

As recently as yesterday I have been having iMessage issues, as well as inability to use Safari, social media apps, iTunes and email if I am not in a WiFi zone. Really starting to get annoyed…

I have the same problem. With iMessage and MMS. It´s making me crazy. I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing seems to make the problem go away.. What to do?
