It looks like iMessage and FaceTime are down for some users.
While Apple is currently reporting that there is no issue (which has been the case for previous iMessage downtimes), a search on Twitter seems to indicate that several users are affected.
Users are reporting that they’re unable to send messages or make FaceTime calls. Users are reporting the issues while on cellular network as well as over Wi-Fi network.

Apple has just updated the iCloud System Status page to confirm that iMessage is down for some users. No update on FaceTime.

Users are experiencing a problem with the service listed above. We are investigating and will update the status as more information becomes available.
Tip: If you’re facing the problem on your iPhone then you can disable iMessage until the issue is resolved by following these simple steps. Launch the Settings app, scroll down to Messages, tap on it and then tap on iMessage toggle to disable it.
