TechCrunch reports that Apple’s iPad mini will go on sale in retail stores and shipping pre-orders starting November 2nd, 10 days after the company’s media event in San Jose.
TechCrunch’s sources corroborate earlier reports of a November 2nd release date for the iPad mini.
November 2 is the ship date we’ve heard today from a source close to Apple’s supply chain, echoing an earlier report by Geeky Gadgets that that’s the day the iPad mini will go on sale.
TechCrunch adds that the source has accurately predicted unreleased Apple info in the past.
The date pre-orders open still remains an unknown, with no clear pattern adopted by Apple for past product launches. iPhone 5 pre-orders opened 2 days after the event, while pre-orders for the third generation iPad opened on announcement day itself.
The iPad mini launch has been timed to capitalise on the high demand generated during the holiday season, which means supplies would most probably be constrained. Analysts expect iPad mini sales in the holiday quarter to fall between 5 million to 6 million units, possibly eating a bit into larger iPad sales as well.
