Tweaked iPad 3 May Come With New 12W Power Adapter For Faster Charging

According to information received by 9to5Mac, Apple will be releasing four new lightning adapters, a new MagSafe 2 power adapter and, a new 12W power adapter at today’s event.

The 12W USB power adapter could allow for much faster charging of the rumored tweaked third generation iPad, as compared to the current 10W adapters which take way too long to fully charge the device.

This would be one more improvement to the tweaked version, which is already said to solve heating issues and come with an upgraded FaceTime camera.

The four lightning adapters are for a variety of purposes ranging from connecting a camera via a USB cable, accessing data stored on an SD card, to sending video and audio to external displays via a VGA or an HDMI cable.

The 60W MagSafe adapter, according to 9to5Mac, is for the new 13” Retina MacBook Pro, expected to be released later today at Apple’s media event in San Jose, California.

Here’s a listing of all the cables and adapters:

It takes an awfully long time to charge the iPad. I will be pissed if Apple releases a new version that fixes one of my biggest gripe about the new iPad. Though its great for those who will be buying the new one.

So was it confirmed that the 4 charges faster? If so, color me p*ssed. Kinda like all the iPad 3 (I refuse to call it the “New iPad”) users were beta testing pre-release hardware for the iPad 4…
