A 13-year old iOS jailbreak developer who goes by the handle SuperDev recently released a new jailbreak tweak called Accelerate that aims to speed up animations in iOS.
Accelerate is essentially the next version of ClockWind, which the developer had released earlier in the year. SuperDev has fixed most of the bugs and added some new features in Accelerate.
While the animations in iOS are quite subtle, you will still notice the speed improvements after you enable the jailbreak tweak. It won’t make the iOS device faster as it will still take the same time to load an app, but it would give a perception that it has become faster.
After installing the jailbreak tweak, you need to enable it via the Settings app (Settings -> Accelerate -> tap on the On/Off toggle next to Enabled under Preferences to turn it on).
You can then configure the speed of the animations in iOS from a list of options such as “Superman”, “Ferrari”, “Cheetah” etc.
You also have the option to disable the tweak for specific animations such as while opening an app, closing an app, accessing app switcher etc.
You can check out the video below to see the jailbreak tweak in action:
The good news is that the jailbreak tweak is available for free on Cydia and it will working on jailbroken iOS devices running iOS 3.x to iOS 6.x.
So give it a shot and let us know how it goes in the comments below.
