Apple updated its Apple Store app today with Passbook-enabled gift cards (U.S. only), Siri search (which may or may not be working right now), and in Canada (and France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany) we can now set up Easy Pay to be able to quickly spend our money even faster.
Passbook-enabled gift cards should be great, just in time for the holidays. You buy a gift card and then redeem it in an Apple Store using Passbook. Searching for items with Siri? Sounds great, but we’ll have to see how well it works out in reality.
Word is, however, that Siri and Passbook may, or may not, be working, at least according to 9to5Mac who got the first tip about the app update.
Now here’s what I’m wondering:
Do you use the Apple Store app?
I don’t generally, but I also haven’t been going into the Apple Store lately. I’d like to know how the Passbook-integrated gift cards work. It’s conspicuously missing from some release notes. On the one hand I think it could be great for fast, tech enabled gift giving. On the other hand I could see it going all kinds of wrong.
