How to Jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 Using Redsn0w

Redsn0w

Apple has just released iOS 6.0.1, which includes a number of bug fixes and improvements. The good news is, you can use Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 to jailbreak your iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS using a simple trick.

In this article, we show you how to jailbreak your iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G running on iOS 6.0.1 using Redsn0w.

Here are some important points to note before you proceed.

  • This guide is meant for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G users.
  • Warning: If you depend on Ultrasn0w to unlock your iPhone, then DO NOT update to iOS 6.0.1.
  • Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 only supports a tethered jailbreak, which means that you need to connect your iPhone to the computer on every reboot (except iPhone 3GS with older bootrom). It is currently not possible to jailbreak iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPod Touch 5G.
  • Please note that jailbreaking your iOS device may void your warranty and hence proceed with caution and at your own risk.
  • Please do not forget to backup your iOS device before you proceed. You can refer to this post for instructions on how to backup your iOS device using iCloud or this one to backup your iOS device using iTunes.
  • Please ensure you are running latest version of iTunes i.e. iTunes 10.5 or later.

You can follow these step-by-step instructions to jailbreak your iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G on iOS 6.0.1:

Step 1: Download Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 (Redsn0w 0.9.15 beta 3) from this link and save the application in a folder named “Redsn0w” on your desktop.

Step 2: Download iOS 6.0 firmware file (yes, iOS 6.0 firmware file) for your iOS device from the links mentioned below:

Step 2: Double click the Redsn0w zip file and extract the application. Navigate to the Redsn0w folder and launch the Redsn0w application.

Windows 7 users should run the exe in Windows XP compatibility mode (right-click on the Redsn0w exe and select Properties, then select the Compatibility tab and select Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP). Windows XP and Windows 7 users should run Redsn0w as ‘Administrator’ (right-click on the Redsn0w exe and select ‘Run as an Administrator’).

Step 3: Click on Extras button.

Step 4: Then click on the Select IPSW button. Navigate and select the firmware file download in Step 2.

Step 5: Go back to Redsn0w’s main page and click on the Jailbreak button.

Step 6: You will now be prompted plug your iOS to the computer and switch it OFF. Follow the instructions and click on the Next button to move to the next screen:

Step 7: You will now need to put your iOS device into the DFU mode. Redsn0w will take you through the necessary steps:

(a) Hold the Power button on your iOS device down for 3 seconds:

(b) Now simultaneously hold the Home button and keep the two buttons pressed for 10 seconds:

(c) Now release the Power button while keeping the Home button pressed until Redsn0w detects the device:

Step 8: Your iOS device should reboot now. Please remember to release the Home button.

Step 9: Redsn0w will now start preparing the jailbreak data.

Step 10: You will now be prompted to select the jailbreak options. Make sure Cydia is selected and click on the Next button to continue. iPhone 3GS users can also select Enable battery percentage option.

Step 11: Your iOS device will reboot again and Redsn0w will now begin uploading the new RAM disk and kernel.

Step 12: You will now be notified once the jailbreaking process is complete. Click on the Ok and then Quit button to exit the application.

Step 13: The rest of the process will take place on your iOS device, wait for it to complete. Your iOS device will reboot once again (which could take approximately 5 minutes).

Boot tethered:

Step 14: You still need to  rerun Redsn0w to boot tethered. Launch Redsn0w again.

Step 15: Click on Extras button.

Step 16: Then click on the Select IPSW button. Navigate and select the firmware file download in Step 2.

Step 17: Then click on the Just Boot button.

Step 18: You will now be prompted to plug your iOS device to the computer and switch it OFF again. Follow the instructions and click on the Next button to move to the next screen:

Step 19: You will now need to put your iOS device into the DFU mode.

Step 20: Redsn0w will recognize the iOS device in DFU mode and apply the limerain exploit (remember to release the Home button). Your iOS device will reboot and a pineapple logo will appear, indicating a tethered boot.

Step 21: Wait for the process to complete, once it is complete, you should see the Lock screen on your iOS device.

That’s it, your iOS device has now been successfully jailbroken and you should see Cydia on the Home screen. If you don’t find it on the Home screen, please don’t panic, search for it using Spotlight.

Note: Since Redsn0w currently supports only a tethered jailbreak except for iPhone 3GS with older bootrom, you will need to follow steps 14 to Steps 21, each time you reboot your iPhone or iPod touch to be able to use the jailbreak apps like Cydia.

If you’ve any problem jailbreaking your iPhone or iPod touch on iOS 6.0.1 then check out this video tutorial:

Update 1:

Updated the guide to include the step of selecting IPSW firmware file again while doing the tethered boot to avoid hitting “missing keys.plist” error.

Update 2:

Windows users, if you hit an issue jailbreaking your iOS device using Redsn0w then try using Sn0wbreeze. Check out our step-by-step tutorial on how to jailbreak iOS 6.0.1/iOS 6.0 using Sn0wbreeze.

Please don’t forget to checkout our article on tips to keep your iOS device secure.

If you’re new to the jailbreaking world and wondering what to do after jailbreaking your iOS device, checkout our jailbreak apps category page to find out the apps you can install on your iOS device using the Cydia app.

Hope this helped. Please don’t forget to let us know how it goes in the comments and drop us a line if you hit any issues.

Easy! My iPhone 4 on iOS 6.0.1 successfully jailbroken.

SO WE DON`T HAVE TO DOWNLOAD THE 6.0 FRIMWARE???

      • http://www.facebook.com/Yeobra Donald Ray Yeo

        You do need to.

  • stage2

Step 2: Download iOS 6.0 firmware file (yes, iOS 6.0 firmware file) for your iOS device from the links mentioned below:

Download the 6.0.0 file or the 6.0.1 file?

    • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

That’s the trick, since Redsn0w currently doesn’t support iOS 6.0.1, you have to download iOS 6.0 and point Redsn0w to it.

Cydia not showing after jailbreak. Please any help

missing keys.plist data for this build redsn0w
    what’s is this??

    • http://www.facebook.com/Yeobra Donald Ray Yeo

They say its a mistake the computer is having reading the usb port your using. Best step is to use a different usb port.

If that doesn’t work reset the computer.

      • Guest

Move it to USB 2 instead of USB 3. We have the iPhone connected through USB 3 port (the blue one) and getting the error all the time. So, if you’re connecting the iPhone to a USB port with blue color (USB v3), pull it off and put it into another black USB port (USB v2).
What if you don’t have USB 2? Well, the next trick you should try is restarting your notebook/laptop/computer. I also have USB 3 working well before, but after the notebook went “sleep” / “hibernate”, there seem to be a glitch with the USB. So, restarting your computer may help you to sort out Missing Keys.plist error!
Not working? Well, you never had your redsn0w working on the current computer due to Missing Keys.plist issue, what if you try another computer? It will help you with this issue!
None of them working? Would you take a look on your USB data cable you used for the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch?
The cable probably “broken” and giving a retry with another cable will
give you more chance to fix the problem! See your dock connector too, is
        it seem “broken”?
More tricks? Unfortunately, NO! That’s all the tips we got to help you with Missing Keys.plist data problem! But giving more chance by downloading the latest version of redsn0w is worth to try, though we assumed that you already used the latest version, right?

Same on my iphone… i’ve tried 3 times to jailbreak and same…hope someone will help…thanks

        • Cornel

i’ve selected the IPSW in all cases and it same, i think the problem is in redsnow or IPSW because i’m jailbreaking the iphone on every ios release and no problems, but now i have this: black screen on my iphone and missing keys plist on redsnow…any ideas why?

          • Da

i selected the IPSW file, but i got an error message that says this version of redsnow doesn’t support it.

        • akiNikki

You need to select the iOS 6.0 not 6.0.1

    • Cornel

Did you solved this problem with missing key plist? If yes how? Help

    • RickCJLove

I had the same problem. Then, I read the directions better. You have to first select the 6.0 iOS (!NOT 6.0.1) in redSnow (Extras –> Select IPSW), then hit the jailbreak button

      • RickCJLove

However, I am still not getting past the connect to iTunes screen

        • RickCJLove

Ahh, finally something good is happening. I just kept trying the jailbreak button (after selecting the 6.0 ispw) – it took many tries to get it into DFU mode correctly. Finally my iphone showed a hard drive image, followed by many text commands, followed by pineapple with progress bar (which I am waiting for right now.)

          • Cornel

Same happened with me, i even solved the problem with reboot the device for cydia to apear on home screen, but NO… there is no cydia on home screen. Make sure when rebooting true redsnow to select the IPSW and after reboot your device! Let me know please if you’ll have cydia on home screen.Select the IPSW 6.0 for jaibreaking and same IPSW 6.0 for rebooting!

          • Ana

Hi, I’m having the same problem. No Cydia for me either. Argh!

          • Cornel

I understand you! I’ve tried few days along to bring cydia on phone homescreen and nothing.

  • Guest

Did you figure it out or do you need help?

  • Jim

I’m having the same key plist error and I know for a fact that it has nothing to do with my computer or my iPod or cable how do you fix this problem I wouldn’t have updated if I would have known that this would be a dud

  • Goze

i really wish i never update. jailbrecking ios 6.0.1 is too hard

  • Cornel

Can anyone help me? I’m trying this for the past 15 hours and same problem missing keys plist… i even tried in another computer and same problem… Please help!

    • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

Have you selected the iOS 6 firmware and then navigated back to the main page and clicked on the Jailbreak button?

      • Cornel

Yes every time when i’m trying to jailbreak i’m selecting the ipsw. The jailbreak process it self going till end it uploading the ram and the phone it restarting without cydia on phone. And when i’m rebooting the device like shows in the video…. all starting ”missing keys plist data for this build” and black screen. I waiting for 30 minutes even and nothing. Also the redsnow if i’m restarting(redsnow) it detecting the device in DFU mode? Why? The firmware is ios 6 GSM iPhone3,1_6.0_10A403_Restore

    • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

Also double check if you have downloaded the correct iOS firmware file.

  • Justin

Is this a bad update to do on an iPhone 5?

  • Caste

missing keys.plist data for this build on just boot how can i fix it?

    • dani

      hi
i’m sorry , i’m can not write english very well.
before just boot : ..exit redsn0w ..exit device cable..and dfu mod ..wait
..open redsnow..extras >> select ipsw >>and now get ios 6.0 for just boot ..connet device in dfu mod ..and next in just boot ..:) redsn0w not showing (.missing keys.plist data for this build ) and cydia installed..
      thank’s

  • Cornel

I have more then one day trying to jaibreak my device and no cydia on
home screen. I solved to how to jailbreak and how to reboot the device,
everything pass till end, i could see the pineapple after reboot but NO
Cydia on home screen. I’ve tried several times and nothing. Maybe the
problem it in IPSW? Because i’ve jailbreak my phone in every ios
release, and no problems, but now….!!! I’ll better wait for redsnow
wich supporting ios 6.0.1. Anyway i’m little bit disappointed with this problem and i’m starting to change my mind about iphone (best phone…)…

  • Joiey

Hello! I am trying to jailbreak my Iphone 4.. I am currently running ios 6 on my device but I’m confused which of the iOS 6.0 firmware file I need to download as there are like 3 types, one is Iphone4 CDMA, iphone 4 GSM and just Iphone 4. Which one should I choose? Pls help me! Thank You So Much!

  • http://www.facebook.com/sergey.dorfman.3 Sergey Dorfman

you need to download another version of the firmware that is the opposite. If you have a GSM CDMA and vice-versa.I got this way

  • http://www.facebook.com/sergey.dorfman.3 Sergey Dorfman

    All works

  • Dio De’ Fernan

at last!!! managed to solved that ‘missing keys.plist’ thing. for all those who got the same problem, ur phone is already jb’d, so just keep rebooting.. PLAN 1: exit redsnow. reboot ur phone into normal mode (THAT IS, OUT OF DFU), then, with ur phone still plugged in the computer, do a normal SLIDE OFF (turning off ur phone as normal), once its off, open redsnow, then go to extra, get the ipsw file again, then just do REBOOT (NOT JB, AS UR PHONE IS ALREADY JB’D), follow what it says…dfu mode and thats it, the pineapple logo should appear.

of course, if you download jb apps and tweaks that needs REBOOTING the device, you have to do the same process as PLAN 1 (ALWAYS GET THE IPSW FILE FIRST BEFORE REBOOT)

    • Bachibouzouk

Thanks Dio De’Fernan, it works !

      • Jessica

Thank you so much!!!! I selected the IPSW file before hitting “just boot” like you said and it WORKED!!! Thank you thank you

        • Dio De’ Fernan

          no probs. ur welcome ;)

      • Dio De’ Fernan

        youre welcome :)

    • Cornel

You saying ”keep rebooting”, but how many times you rebooted till you get the cydia in iphone home screen, because i’ve tried many times and every time i can see that pineapple and no cydia! I uninstalled the antivirus, same as you said and nothing. What i’m doing wrong? I have 4 usb ports and i tried every port, without antivirus 2-3 times.! Thats first time when is happening that with my phone… P.S. I’m doing all how you said in your post(comment), i was doing every time like this when it a tethered reboot on all previews ios releases. And this time is first time when happening that. Thanks but i’ll wait for next release, something is wrong with IPSW or redsnow.

      • lucian1003

You don’t have to reboot many times nor change the USB port. If you follow the steps i posted below ( with the right tools ) you should have no problem. Don’t give up … it took me a couple of days to figure it out as well . Now my phone is up and running :)))

        • Cornel

Look, my phone is jailbreaked without problems and i can reboot without problems, just no cydia on home screen. I’ve tried many times to bring cydia to phone and nothing. P.S. I followed the instructions exactly how it sais, and non cydia…

          • Dio De’ Fernan

i see. what pineapple did appear?, the one in a square? or the one on its own? the one in sqaure is only halfway the process, sometimes it gets stuck there, and u need to clean reboot. when u get the small pineapple usually ends it, cydia appears after.

          • Cornel

I’m doing exactly how you saying, jb; slide off; open redsn; select
ipsw; just reboot, and nothing. The pineapple it clear without square( a
normal pineapple). Just now i’ve tried another time to jailbreak and
            same problem.

          • Dio De’ Fernan

when u finish jb,and no cydia yet appeared, its not done yet, u get to slide off the phone, open redsnow, get the ipsw, back to ‘just reboot’. that should do it. let me know what happens.

          • Kevin Deguara

I was having exactly the same problem, no matter what I tried, I wasn’t getting CYDIA !!!!

I had downloaded the incorrect IPSW so maybe you have as well ???

            I had originally donloaded this – 6.0.0 (iPhone 4): iPhone3,2_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw

but what I actually needed was this – 6.0.0 (iPhone 4 GSM): iPhone3,1_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw

Please make sure that you have downloaded the correct IPSW and all should be fine. It worked 1st time for me with the correct IPSW ;)

            Kevin.

          • Cornel

I’m not stupid… My ipsw is 6.0.0 iphone 3.1_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw. Sorry for my language but i’m very disapointed in my phone. i’m using the right ipsw

          • Kevin Deguara

did I suggest that you were stupid? nope, didn’t think so but being as you don’t want to accept the help that’s offered, why bother asking for help in the first place?

I was merely making a suggestion as I was having the exact same problem that you seem to be having and simply posted the fix that was needed to correct my problem ;)

well, maybe try downloading the other IPSW to see if that works for you?

only trying to help here pal, no need to be offensive ;)

          • Cornel

Sorry Kevin for bad language, i did not try to offense you man, just i’m very angry on my iphone, it just start to make me troubles. No problems till this update. Thanks anyway for you suggestion help. Sorry again

          • lucian1003

When you jailbroken your phone did you tick the install Cydia box ?

          • lucian1003

If you still cannot get Cidya after jailbreaking, you might consider installing it manually. Check out this video, it might be useful to you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1N07zXMM7Y

          • Cornel

Thanks lucian1003 for help, but my version is ios 6.0.1.

          • lucian1003

It doesn’t matter … that was for you to MANUALLY instal Cydia after jailbreak … if u watch the video above you will see that the guy in it had the same problem as you did … good luck :)

          • Cornel

Thanks lucian1003, but i solved the problem by reinstalling the software in my iphone. I know that video, because it from ios 6 beta, I deed that in the day when ios 6 was released, there was same problem with cydia. Thanks

@disqus_MVci9MSL0n:disqus ive got the same problem as you buddy. what did you mean by re-installing the software on ur iphone?

          • Cornel

            Hi Samuel!
All you have to do is: make a recovery with itunes,: put your iphone in DFU mode and let itunes detecting it in recovery mode and follow the instructions, and after jailbreak your iphone. I’ve tried many times before recovery to jailbreak but every time was same no cydia on the home screen.! After recovery with itunes I just dead the jailbreak process how is described above and it works fine. Cydia on the home screen and now I can use many app from it!!!! That works for me just fine.!

          • lucian1003

U might consider installing Cydia manually. Google it! ( i posted a link above but it might not work on this site, found a video with the exact same problem as you have )

Hey, This might be an unintelligent question, but when you say “just do REBOOT” do you mean taking the ipod out of being turned off, or is there a specific option in redsnow to reboot?

      • Dio De’ Fernan

hey, REBOOT is when u click on that REBOOT OPTION as you execute redsnow, and it tells you to put ur device on DFU mode (to do a certain task like jailbreaking). Another REBOOT is when you take your device out of being on DFU (after a jailbreak) – its more like resetting your device.

    • jajay22

I’ve been having some issues since my jailbreak..it seems like not all my phone calls come through a lot of them (99%!!!-__-) go straight to voicemail..I don’t know what to do..is someone else having the same issue?

      THANKSS!!!

  • genetik

are we getting missing keys.plist errors because we need the shsh blob to jailbreak. and it cant register with the apple server or something

    • Jessica

Read Fernan’s comment above it worked for me!!!

  • genetik

if youre getting the missing keys.plist error when youve just jailbroken it and you have to boot tethered, you have to put the 6.0 firmware back on it and then ‘just boot tethered’

  • U

If You are getting “missing keys.plist data for this build” You have to once again select iOS 6.0 firmware in “Select IPSW” and click Just Boot

  • U

If cydia is not showing after jailbreak don’t worry just go with “welcome screen”, -> select language etc. You won’t have to activate the device with iTunes

  • Trippen

I have a 3GS with old BR. I get “Exploit Fail” just after Redsnow shows “first stage uploading” (or something like that)…. WHY
    ??!!

  • Ian

    I have a problem.

Whilst doing every step listed here, Step 10 occurs BEFORE Step 6-7 then whilst ‘Jailbreaking’ , it pauses on the ‘Uploading first stage’ just before it finished. redsn0w then proceeds to crash giving me an error report, my iPod stuck in Soft DFU Mode and it being unjailbroken. Help please, would be much appreciated

-edit- It is now successfully jailbreaking on my device, yet on the ‘Pineapple running’ loading screen and this has finished. However Cydia is not on my homescreen, and I’ve trfied the Just Boot option in redsn0w. Help please!

I downloaded the Redsnow 0.9.15b3, and downloaded the right Iphone 4 firmware 6.0.1, when i cilck on “Select ISPW” ad choose the firmware, a message pops up that this ISPW is not supported by this version of redsnow although i ran redsnow with XP compatibility and as administrator.
    Please advice.

Missing Keys.plist for ios 6.0.1 issue Solved!
The trick is to select the ipsw before you “just boot tethered”

  • lucian1003

I had the same problem after updating to ios6.0.1.

    You will need the following:

Redsnow and a downloaded ipsw for ios6.0 ( not necessarely 6.0.1)

    The steps are:

    1. Clean update your iPhone with iTunes to ios6.0.1
    2. Go to redsn0w – Extras – select IPSW ( choose the ipsw you downloaded in a specific folder – has to be ios6.0 restore, not necessarely ios6.0.1)
    3. go back to Jailbreak – wait until the jailbreaking process is finished … and the device restarts
    4. Go to extras – select IPSW again ( select the same ipsw )
    5. go to “just boot” option
    6. clean ” slide to power off” and put in DFU mode
    7. Done! :)
I did this post hoping to help other people that had the problem I had ( 3 days trying to sort it out ) :) Enjoy!

When I download the Ipsw file it comes to me as a zip file. I extract all but when I go to select the IPSW it shows nothing. What file do I need to download or what? Please help

    • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

If you’re downloading the firmware files using Safari then ensure that auto unzip feature is disabled or use Chrome or Firefox.

    • lucian1003

you need to change the extention of the file. In stead of .zip has to be .ipsw!
You can find several free extention changer programs on the net.

  • Bobby digi

Before you “JUST BOOT” you must select ipsw

Everything was going great right up until the very end when I got to the pineapple logo and instead of going to my lock screen my iPhone gets stuck on the apple boot logo. I can easily get back to my lockscreen by just rebooting it when it gets stuck but it won’t install cydia. Are there any suggestions on how to fix this?

  • Vinni

Is it weird that after my phone dl’s the jailbreak data, I don’t get the pineapple guy who does the manage bundles? It just skips this step and reboots my phone…

Please need help! my ipod touch 4g wont turn on, i did everything (fix recovery, just boot, and many things from tinyumbrella and redsnow) and when i tried to restore from itunes it shows a error 1602 and i tried it again it shows 1601 and again it shows 3194. Pleasee alert help!!

    • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

Reset it … press the Home and Sleep/Wake button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo to come out of DFU mode.

It looks like you have host file entries pointing to Cydia servers, which may be causing the issue. Remove all references to apple.com in the host file and try again.

      • Johnny Smith

i tried and it doesnt respond anything, but after 10 seconds the computer loads loads a bit (mouse pointer got the loading thing) and thats it.

how i change the references? i found the host file but i have no idea to do…

If it’s on a Mac check out this link: http://osxdaily.com/2012/08/07/edit-hosts-file-mac-os-x/

You need to remove the entire line or add a # in front to comment it.

i got that problem too! my ipod seems dead and hopeless. can someone help?

  • guzzbuzz

It’s not working. It says that my IPSW isn’t supported by this version of redsnow.
But I have redsnow 0.9.15b3 and i’ve tried with all three IPSW:s for iPhone 4. But it’s still not working. Don’t know what to do.

    • Cornel

Wich IPSW you downloaded ios 6.0.0 or 6.0.1? This redsnow version supporting just ipsw ios 6.0.0. If so you’ll need to wait till a new version of redsnow will come out wich will support ios 6.0.1.

  • Sabre

    Totally works :D
First time using this so I’m going to have to figure out how this whole Cydia thing work. But thanks for the easy guide :D

  • justin

Am I suppose to be on 6.0.1 via itunes already before I can use this technic?

    • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

Yes, this assumes you’re on iOS 6.0.1.

  • V

It works except Cellular network says – No service :( Iphone 3GS (old)

  • Cornel

Everyone who have a problem with cydia not showing in home screen must do a full recovery with itunes to the iphone. That’s will work, i had that problem and now it solved. The Cydia it self it new: 1.1.8 version, so there was a problem with wold plist from old Cydia: 1.1.6 version. I think that was the problem in my iphone. I’m just guessing, but I may be right. That’s helped me, so it may help you all. That’s after almost a week of torture with my iphone…. After do exactly how it described above to jailbreak and you’ll see the cydia on home screen. Good luck all. Thanks to everyone who helped me with advice.

is it possible to do this on an unactivated iphone 4? I restored my original settings, which took away the activation, and I don’t have a valid sim to get it activated again. I went through all the steps above, got the pineapple (which I think means it worked), but I’m still stuck on an activation screen.

  • Max

I succesfully jailbroke my iphone 4, but when I pressed ”just boot”, my iphone went off, and I can’t get it on again. I’ve tried everything I could possibly think of. Please help!

  • ~Nickk~

For some reason, it works fine and the pineapple (in the square) is loading and the bar stops halfway and my ipod reboots, and then the safari thing doesn’t work, it just crashes. I’m using ipod 4G, IOS 6.0.1, if that makes a difference. Can anybody help?

has anyone here ever solved the poblem of date in statusbar being only half-showing? (like 8/10 instead of 28/10 in october, then only ‘/11′ in november) that happened after upgrading to ios6 and using date and time options from sbsettings. if you do, spare me an idea as i’ve tried everthing my sane mind thought of.

  • dasty

thanks for the info.. great job

  • Menacer

OK after two days I got it!! Two KEY!! Things to getting it to work that no one talks about… Well 1 defiantly.,

KEY # 1. If you get the Key missing error you need to download the exact file it list under Build: ” Iphone3,1_6.01_10A523.iwps ” <— This was mine yours might be not be the same so read what the error lists!!

KEY # 2 Always start with your phone off!!!!
sliding RED BAR to shut down.

    1.hitting Back

    2. Select (Jail Brake and install cydia )
YOU MUST! Shut your phone down from the on state sliding RED BAR before clicking next.

    3. Click next hold power for 3 ——— Same old instructions as the site posted.

Now I'm going to skip to phone loads up..

—- Your phone is now Jail broken but may not have installed cydia. so turn your phone of with RED SLIDER…

This should be 1 now because if you mess up you don't have to start all over… Just restart step 4.

    4. Go back into redshow / Extras and click select "Select IPSW" just to make sure its loaded..,

    5. Phone off!!! RED SLIDER Click "Just Boot" and compleat all the steps.. This time you should see a little pineapple on your phone.. after booting cydia will be installed (My Redsnow crashes )

    Woooo!!

Thanks for everones help! I would have givin up!

Thanx worked perfectly on my Old Bootrom 3GS phone, to enter ur phone in normal phone i had to use redsn0w, or try using “Tiny Umbrella”, in DFU mode, select ios6.0 IPSW, and Jailbreak to install Cydia

Install “Ultrasn0w” from cydia although it is not supported for ios6 then install ” Ultrasn0w Fixer” by adding repo : ” http://repo.iparelhos.com ” , worked for my old bootrom 3gs baseband v5.13.4, install Appsync 5.x for installing cracked apps…

What’s the extension of the file, if it is not .ipsw then you won’t be able to select it. If you’re downloading the firmware files using Safari then ensure that auto unzip feature is disable or use Chrome or Firefox.
