Start making your gift lists folks, because Twelve South has updated their cool wallet-case combo the BookBook for the iPhone 5. Not only that they including something that was missing from the original 4/4S version—a camera hole.
I had the original BookBook for the iPhone 4/4S and while I loved it (and got lots of compliments on it), I eventually stopped using it for one major reason—no hole for the camera. Now, sure, I could have punched or cut a hole in the back (I actually have the tools for that), but I didn’t want to mess it up. I have seen some people with the same case that came with a camera hole, though the Twelve South site doesn’t list that as a feature. Still, lack of an easy way to snap a picture was a drawback for me.
Looks like Twelve South took the feedback to heart and designed the BookBook for iPhone 5 with a space for the camera.
What is a BookBook? Simply it’s a wallet/case that looks like an antique leather book. It holds a few cards, ID, and some cash. And looks darn swell doing it. Yes, as you’d expect from real leather, it does age over time and starts to look even better.
This combo case is perfect for someone who only wants to carry one thing and doesn’t need to carry a lot in their wallet. If you need a ton of cards and things in your wallet, this isn’t the case for you.
However if you want something really distinctive, that ages really well over time, and still protects your iPhone, give the Book Book a look. The BookBook starts shipping this week and you can order it from Twelve South directly (or wait until they appear in the Apple Store).
