If you’re looking for a reason to jailbreak your iOS device, then an upcoming jailbreak tweak called Auxo could be one of them.
Auxo replaces the app icons in the app switcher with a card-like screenshot of the current state of the app. The card-like screenshot should make it easier to identify the app you want to launch from the app switcher.
You can remove apps from the app switcher by swiping down on the app rather than going through the tedious process of pressing and holding the Home button etc. You can also kill multiple apps in this way by using multiple fingers (Though killing apps may not be a good idea).
The jailbreak tweak allows you to access some of the frequently used toggles such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc.
Auxo also redesigns the music controls that are available when you swipe from left to right, with album artwork etc and gives you quick access to the volume controls. Jeff Benjamin of iDownloadblog has managed to get a sneak preview of the jailbreak tweak and has posted this walkthrough.
Auxo will be compatible with iOS 6 initially, but the developers plan to release an update to add support iOS 5.x.x in the future. The availability and pricing details haven’t been revealed yet.
Ever since Apple introduced the multitasking feature in iOS 4, jailbreak developers have released tweaks such as Multifl0w, MissionBoard Pro, Dash, Aero, Switchy, jLauncher to replace the app switcher, but based on the video walkthrough, this is easily the best app switcher alternative. We can’t wait for the jailbreak to be released for iPhone 5.
