Time Warner Cable App for iOS Finally Offers Streaming Video to Customers

Time Warner is catching up with the rest of the industry and offering streaming video through its mobile apps—well at least if you have an iOS device.

They might be late to the party, but they made it all the same. Via Engadget:

Subscribers can download the TWC TV app update to watch video on demand throughout the house (so long as they have Time Warner Cable television and internet service). Content from nearly 100 providers is available in both high and standard definition, and TWC claims it’s working on bringing more HD programming to its library. The app update also adds a “Recent” button while watching Live TV, which lists frequented channels, making surfing a bit easier for users.

If you are a TWC subscriber, have you tried the app? Let us know how you like it (or don’t) in the comments.

I love the app, occasionally some buffering issues but overall works well. I didn’t really like how when I was jailbroken that I had to install a tweak in order to use it but still a solid app.

They restrict access to jailbroken devices because they dont want you mirroring it to your tv for some reason. More or less allows you to get digital channels without a cable box. I use a tweak called Display Out to mirror my ipod with the TWC app to watch channels I can’t see without a 2nd box.

As great as it is that they have a few more things added to the app, it still seems so limited since it can’t stream outside of the home. I’ve been able to stream live TV on my iPad for the longest time with the DISH Remote Access app and a Sling Adapter connected to my receiver. Sometimes I catch up on my shows while I’m on lunch at DISH where I work. I really like that I can be anywhere I want and see my favorite shows, unlike the Time Warner app which needs to be at home in order to work.
