Yahoo Releases All-New Mail App For iPhone
Yahoo has just rolled out a new version of the web client for Yahoo Mail, along with new apps for iOS, Android and Windows.
As The Verge points out, Yahoo seems to have quietly launched the iOS app last week, and has released an update for the app today.
Yahoo’s CEO Marissa Mayer announced the launch of the new Yahoo Mail on the company’s blog. If you’ve been following the fortunes of the tech giant (if you can still call it one), then it’s a refreshing change and highlights the change in focus of the company. Marissa Mayer had this to say about the new Yahoo Mail:
You’ve told us loud and clear that you want fewer distractions when it comes to email. You want to quickly login, communicate, and get on with your day. And we’ve listened. Starting today, the new Yahoo! Mail is fast, easy and available anywhere you go. These improvements will be available on all major platforms: Web, Windows 8, iPhone/iPod touch and Android.
We’ve redesigned the new version of Yahoo! Mail with speed in mind — getting through your emails is faster than ever before. We’ve also made your inbox more intuitive and easier to navigate, allowing you to focus on what matters most: your messages. And, because mobile is everything these days, Yahoo! Mail now has a consistent look and feel across devices.
Unfortunately, the iOS app is only designed for iPhone and iPod touch, so iPad users will have to wait for Yahoo to release an universal app.
You can download the app from this direct iTunes link. As always, let us know what you think about the app in the comments below.
