How To Add Apps To Newsstand (Folder) Without Jailbreaking

What if I told you that it was possible to use the Newsstand as an app folder instead of hiding it? I’m not kidding, a reader of iDownloadblog has discovered a hack, which makes it possible to move apps in the Newsstand and the best part is that you can do it without jailbreaking your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

You have to follow these steps:

Step 1: Place the Newsstand folder anywhere on the second page of the Home screen.

Step 2: Place the apps that you would like to move into the Newsstand folder on the third page of the Home screen.

Step 3: Swipe to the third page of the Home screen containing the apps that you would like to move.

Step 4: Press the Home button once, and then immediately tap and hold on the app that you wish to move.

Step 5: Continue holding on the screen until the Home screen moves to the first page due to your press of the Home button.

Step 6: Release your hold on the screen and immediately swipe back to the second page containing the Newsstand folder

Step 7: If the trick worked correctly, then you should see wiggle mode enabled.

Step 8: Tap on the Newsstand folder to open it, and then press the Home button once to close it.

Step 9: You should see the app that you tapped and held on in Step 4 move into the Newsstand folder.

You can add an unlimited number of apps to the Newsstand folder, there doesn’t seem to be any limit. You can put a folder in the Newsstand folder using this process, but when you try to open the folder SpringBoard crashes, so avoid it.

While you can change the position of the apps in the Newsstand folder, it is also not possible to remove the app from the Newsstand folder. But if you want to undo the trick, all you need to do is reboot your iOS device.

It takes some practise, so don’t give up if it doesn’t work for you in the first few attempts. If you’ve trouble getting the trick to work then check out the video guide below:

The downside of this trick is that you have to repeat this process every time you reboot your iOS device. So just like the other Newsstand hack, this one also falls in the just for fun category.

Let us know how it goes in the comments.

Well, I put a folder in Newsstand and I opened it and my device resprung. Oddly, the apps were hidden from sight, but still could be opened from Spotlight Search. Once I restarted, I had the apps back, but not in a folder. I did not try and see if I could move the folder out of Newsstand.

Ah man. Damn, I really am in need of this and would have worked great until I read that a “reboot will restore it back”. Sh*t.

If you want to hide Newsstand inside a folder, you can also do these steps but instead of holding other icons you want to hold newsstand, click home then swipe back to window 2 before they begin to jitter. you then choose the folder you want to put it in and then just click home ^_^

Just have in mind that if you do a soft reset on your phone, the apps you put on the newsstand will go back to where you had them in first place. At least that happened to me!
