Apple Wants to Make Siri More Lifelike and Interesting

A recent Apple job posting suggests that Siri could soon become more lifelike with “personality”. We all have our favorite Siri questions we ask to get humorous responses, maybe soon even “normal” questions will have more wit.

Spotted by 9to5Mac this morning, the Apple job post is looking for…

We’re looking for a uniquely creative individual to help us evolve and enrich Siri, our virtual personal assistant. Siri’s known for ‘her’ wit, cultural knowledge, and zeal to explain things in engaging, funny, and practical ways. The ideal candidate is someone who combines a love for language, wordplay, and conversation with demonstrated experience in bringing creative content to life within an intense technical environment.

This would certainly be a fun job for anyone who just likes to play with words and writing. It’s a safe bet that Apple would like Siri to become a cornerstone of how we use our devices. One way to help that along is for Siri to be more “human”. Bringing more writers on board, and creative ones at that, would certainly be the first step in that direction.

What are your favorite Siri question-answer pairs? What’s the best answer Siri has given you?

Why doesn’t Apple just improve Siri’s speech recognition so more people will use it? As it stands, I have to put the mic right up to my mouth and pronounce everything as clear as possible, but even then, Siri gets most things wrong.

I’m betting that’s in the works as well, they just don’t need writers for that.
