If you’re heading to Macworld/iWorld next week, be ready for a little star gazing as Ashton Kutcher and Josh Gad will headline a session called “Playing Steve & Woz” as part of promoting their movie jOBS which premiers at Sundance this month and will hit theaters in April.
Kutcher is a well-known Apple fan with Apple devices showing up in Two and a Half Men regularly. Kutcher is also an investor in several tech companies (like Hipmunk), so his tech chops are certainly there (maybe not car finding, but you know).
For those at the session on January 31st, I’m sure the big question will be how did the actors approach playing such larger-than-life people in the movie. Beyond Kutcher’s eerie resemblance to Steve Jobs (and oddly Josh Gad looking very little like Woz), Jobs and Woz were two men whose work, vision, company, and dreams have truly shaped our modern lives.
From the affordable (and easy) home computer in the Apple IIe to the Mac to the iPod to the iPhone to the iPad, there is a legacy that can’t be undervalued.
This isn’t the only movie based on Jobs’ like coming out. A movie based on Walter Isaacson’s biography is reportedly also in the works. We don’t know too much about jOBS yet, beyond a few pictures from the set, so once the movie premiers at Sundance we’ll get an idea if the movie will be awesome or…
